    Cool Suntek Carbon nano-hybrid tint - 18% vs 35%

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Scheduled to have my car tinted next with the Suntek Carbon nano-hybrid tint.. which I guess is the CXP? I was told that it has 40% heat rejection. I am doing the same percentage on all windows, expect the windshield. The shop has only two options that I’m interested in, which is 18% or 35% and I can’t set myself on which tint % to go with. I like the visibility with the 35 at night but thinking if I should go as dark as 18%. Also, my magma red interior looks great on my Glacier White Metallic B8.5, so going dark will hide a bit of the interior color that pops nicely. Any suggestions or pics of your own vehicles with the Suntek brand? Thanks!

18% is just lighter than Dark As Fuck. I ran it on my B7 A4 and loved it, but I do not miss the night visibility issues. You can literally not see anything out the windows at night.

It doesn’t look bad but night driving is something I’d be worried about... and I want identical tint all the way around. Im guessing that 35% should still give me the proper heat rejection in the California sun. Otherwise, im not so worried about how much you can/can’t see inside. Maybe if I could get a few more opinions from experience and pics, I’ll further decide. If they had the same tint in 25%, I’d probably settle on that without question.

I don't have too many pics of my car but you can kind of see it here. I have suntek 30% all around. I should've went with 35% as I think that would've looked better. I'm not a big fan of the dark tint look.

Also, I'm not entirely too sure but I think since there's a natural tint that comes from factory your windows will actually come out slightly darker. My winders actually measure 22% with the meter.

Get the 18% and "roll" your windows down when you need to see behind you. Such as when your parking. Or drive with your windows down, your in SoCal.

Yes, I believe I’ve read and there is a slight tint to the factory windows.

Lol SoCal is nice and I could roll the windows but ehhhh. My brother has 20% on his black/black Infiniti and he loves it, I’m still unsure damnit. More pics and thoughts from others will lead me in either/or direction.

I’ve been using 15% all around and 5% on the back window. Night visibility is absolutely nonexistent. However on an all black car it’s looks great . Highly recommend !

    Suntek Carbon CXP 35%

If I had to do it again, I'd try to get darker percentage in the front windows so that it would match better. The plus side is that since they're slightly different and it's a lighter tint, cops don't bother me. (front tint is illegal in NJ)

I have had the Suntek Carbon on an Accord a couple of years ago and it looked pretty identical to your pic above. Visibility was awesome at night and the tint was “dark’ish” at certain angles and under different lighting, but I thought the same as you, could be darker at times. I’m sure I’d love the 18% in the daytime, otherwise.

I'm from New York haha. You can do it, as long as it's not rediculously dark

As long as you have a tint-friendly inspection person. I do, but I'd rather not get tinted and give the police any extra reason to harass me (my driving style gives them plenty).

I have Suntek CXP 25%, which I did because it was a compromise between the 18% and 35%.

I avoided 18% cause i knew it was too dark. However, even with 25% in dark areas at night (my work parking lot) it's difficult to see anything. And my S4 is the year they couldn't do reverse cameras.

25% still looks dark, especially with my black interior, and I can see good-enough at night so I think I picked the best one for me.

p.s. even with carbon tint, if you park in the sun the car gets freakin hot, if there's a difference I don't really notice. Last summer I figured all my tint research was useless cause my car was still boiling hot. I guess I was dumb enough to think the carbon tint would be a drastic change.

I don't know anything about that specific film but I have 20% tint on all windows for several years and love it. 35% was too light for me especially in these cars that let a lot of light through the windsheild 20180315_101148.jpeg

Or do as I do, and swap to a set of salvage windows each year. Last year I got away with just the fronts, but this year I had to bite the bullet on the rears. 20-30 minutes per side for the front doors, and 40-60 per side for the rear doors. Kind of a hassle, but far better than giving up my 3M CR40 for Cuomo's hypocritical ass.

I lend them out as well, with printed instructions for the swap. Simply pay a $250 deposit plus any shipping; once I receive my window's back, the deposit is returned. The deposit is dictated by the number of windows you're borrowing, but either way is going to be what I paid for the windows, so I can replace them if need be.

I'm in NY, so 35% front/back with a visor up front. 20% is very dark during night driving.

Looks like I’ll be going with the 35%. Getting them done tomorrow morning.
