Looking to replace the front/rear pads on my 3.0T Q5, what pads are most people running for low dust good daily usage? On my A4 I ran Akebono's and loved them.

I just put on Akebono ceramics and zimmermann rotors. Love them so much that I may replace the rears to cut the dusting even thought they were done about 20k miles ago and have a lot of life. The dust is absurd.

I'd stick with those if you were happy.

So the only thing I am confused with is that the Q5 came with two different front caliper options, the non-Brembo and Brembo. One that also uses 320mm or 345mm rotors. From my research and my options codes on my '16 Q5 3.0T I believe I have the Brembo w/the 345mm, can anyone else shine some light on this?

I believe you are correct. 345mm for the 3.0T. When I did my brakes last year, I tried finding Akebono pads with no real luck. I have used them previously and loved them but I dont think they make them for the 345mm/Brembo combo. I went with EBC Redstuff pads and have enjoyed them so far. Also did stainless steel brake lines to firm up the pedal feedback.

Awesome! From my initial search it looked like my options were StopTech/EBC/OEM. At least changing the front pads will be a little bit easier being able to drop them in from the top.

Can anybody confirm if these will work with a 2017 Q5 3.0T? I believe I would have the 345mm front brakes correct?

The Akebono EUR1018 are rear brake pads, all the variants of the Q5/SQ5 use the same size rear brake pads/rotors.

You're right. I copied the wrong link since I was looking at both front and rear options.

Here is the link for the Akebono fronts: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...448536&jsn=255

Looks to be the right ones in that link, just remember you will have to re-use your OEM mounting pins. I went with the Posi-Quiets and they come with new pins/hardware. Also I found that the Q5 OEM brake pads arn't nearly as "dusty" as my A4's. Where as the OEM A4 pads made my silver wheels look gray/black after only a few days and switching to Akebono' eliminated that.

With Mops recommendation I had HAWK street performance front pads installed on my 2016 Q5 2.0. Very pleased with their performance & no brake dust problems.

I just installed new Brembo rotors and pads for my 345mm rotors and Brembo calipers.

I went with Brembo ceramic low dust pads. They have surprisingly good initial bite and are very linear. Very low dust. I believe they were about $78 for the four front pads with free shipping.

    https://www.brembostoreusa.com/produ...brembo-ceramic

The part number is on the back of the pad in the photo below.

I'm on my 2nd set of EBC redstuff. Compared to OEM there's less initial bite/ more progressive feel but no complaints. Quiet and low dust.

Another good option, just checked the Brembro site and they offer front pads for the B8.5 SQ5 now too. Different part numbers than the 345mm option so assuming they are meant for the 380mm option. Options are for "NAO" or "Low Met", seems like the NAO are more for comfort and extended life like a true ceramic pad. the Low Met seem more like a aggressive street pad with improved pedal feel, better stopping power and higher braking temps.

Noticed RockAuto carries them too now for the front and rear.

NAO = ceramic - low dust, longer life, progressive increase of grip with pedal pressure.

Low Met = semi-metallic - higher dust, shorter life but greater initial “bite”, typically like most OEM pads.

Neither of these are track day or race pads. I went ceramic for low dust, quiet operation, longer life and because I like bite to increase with pressure. Either is a great option. And, Brembo pads are engineered to go with our calipers.

    Here’s Brembo’s comparison chart:

2017 Q5 3.0T S-Line | Brilliant Black | 034 Stage 2+dual pulley 93 octane tune | JHM 187mm crank pulley w/ EPL 57.6mm s/c pulley - 3.247 total ratio | Red Star shielded test pipes | Magnaflow high flow downstream ceramic core bottle cats | Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resos in place of OEM baby resos | aFe Pro 5R (part#10-10121) filter in "modified" stock air box | 034 silicone throttle body hose | HP Tuners custom TCU tuned ZF8 | Merc Racing HX | Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ 255/45/20.

Reviving back from the dead. Can anyone tell me for certain the P/N for EBC Redstuff pads for a 2014 Q5 3.0T with 345mm rotors? I get a different answer on every website...
