The SC also has a type of spring dampener between the pulley and the gears that absorbs any remaining vibration. Any well-made pulley should not be a problem. (XLR8 196 on my car).

Someone posted here a while back that the real reason for the two piece dampened crank pulley was because NVH was otherwise being transferred to the supercharger through the belt and would reduce the life of the bearings in the supercharger.

That made no sense to me, as the belt, itself, and the tensioner pulley would have the dampening effect on any vibrations that would otherwise reach the supercharger through the s/c pulley and belt.

I ignored that speculation and have done fine with the JHM 179. I'd much rather have a little NVH (and I sense absolutely none) than have a crank pulley delaminate out on the highway, God only knows where or when.

    Just curious.

Chiming in quick although our name has already come up. Everyones support is greatly appreciated!

Our XLR8 crank pulleys vary in weight based on sizing. The 179mm outer ring (the smallest size we offer) weighs in at 1lb 14oz. The 196.5mm outer ring (which is also our largest size) weighs in at 2lbs 3 oz.

Since our XLR8 crank pulleys are a modular design you can't forget to add the weight of the hub! Those come in at just over 1lb (1lb 1oz) themselves. Given the fact that the stock pulley weighs 8lbs 10oz, regardless of the sizing you choose, you're going to be shaving off at least 5lbs!

You can find some more info on our pulleys on the old release thread HERE, and you can find them on our online store HERE.

If anyone has questions or wants the best pricing possible please feel free to shoot me a PM. Happy modding!
