    Clock spring and related errors

Hi, I have a 2013 a5 and recently the steering wheel functions started to fail along with a grinding noise when moving from lock to lock.

When all the steering wheel functions stopped working including airbag, horn and paddles I decided to try and fix it, I got a new clock spring from Audi and fitted it myself.

Now it is all back together I have a new error or 2!

    Stabilisation control ESC fault
    Steering system fault
And the power steering seems to be very stiff as if it isn’t working.

I have tried the steering wheel functions and the only thing that appears to be working now is the horn, everything else still seems faulty

    Anyone have any ideas?

Update, the car codes have been read and it was the end to end calibration, this has now been calibrated and all the errors are now cleared.... but the steering wheel function buttons including the paddles don’t work.

Probably something with the wiring harness in the steering wheel, you have to take out the airbag to take a look in there. When I bought a flat bottom wheel I found a damaged harness and had to solder a wire back together to get my buttons to work.

Indeed, the issue could be the harness or even another part. Best is to get the wiring diagram, pick a button that doesn’t work and find why. It’s likely that this could be the reason for all buttons not working.

Did the clock spring get rid of the grinding noises you were hearing. I am having some of those now and can’t figure out where they are coming from?
