Replaced the front pads a few months ago - didn't have any issues - greased everything and I have no squeal, and they perform fine.
However - when hitting a sharp bump - I hear a metal on metal "clack" from the front wheels. Going over really broken pavement or bad RR track crossings there is a rattle. If however, I have my foot on the brake - even ever so slightly, there is no sound, so I assumed it was the pads.
Took things apart today, and it's pretty obvious the pads are moving around in the caliper enough so that the U shaped slot in the pad backing plate is contacting the pins on the caliper bracket. Paint on the pad is gone/and a shiny metal area exists. Similar area on the pins that shows wear - see below.

I know the OEM pads have an adhesive backing that glues the outer one to the caliper, and the inner to the piston. The clip that holds the inner pad in the piston is pretty tight - thinking the pad may be rotating more than both sides moving, but...
How can I prevent aftermarket pads from making this noise? I can't find anything similar to the OEM pad glue. I know it's probably just a nuisance, but it makes the car sound like a beat up junker when I hit sharp bumps.
Thanks,
Jim
