Is the IE Powerlink Flash Tool required to flash IE tunes?

It's an extra $149 for it. I already have a USB to OBDII cable that works with my car. I don't want to pop for an extra $150 for something I don't need, and there's nothing that seems to indicate the tool is a requirement.

That's a good question. I assumed you had to, but after reading more about it on their website, the tunes actually are provided in software for a PC/laptop and not from the "POWERlink" directly. I'd think your OBDII to usb cable would work just the same. Perhaps not though

Or find a buddy that already has one of their cables...sounds like you can use it on multiple cars "Share the power with up to 5 different cars with a single cable. Just add enough credits to your cable for the desired tune and power-up your entire crew."

The software checks the cable when tuning. You have to have the powerlink.

We do have dealers though, and if there's one near you, you can get your car flashed by them without needing the tool yourself.

The best part of the tool is you can do more than just flash, you can data log and read/delete codes.

Haha, no worries. That's more apparent when there's a sale. We get hundreds a day. Don't hesitate to give us a call as well though!
