    Park assist (parallel) retrofit

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Has anyone successfully retrofitted park assist? Referring to the 12 sensor auto park feature. I have all the parts but I’m curious of all the necessary coding changes before I start running wires & drilling bumpers. Vag-com doesn’t have any long coding info for some modules on my car.

Yes i did it on my S6 4G.
Had APS+ before and upgraded to PLA.
    Pretty straight forward upgrade.
I can send you coding of 10: Park Assist module if you want unless your car is facelifted.

My car is facelift 2016. Would still love to get your coding. Did you have to code any other modules?

I’m confused now. Pre face lift parking was controlled by its own module. Facelift parking is controlled by electrics module 09 which is by the drivers dash. Parallel park on either car requires the separate module 10 in the trunk. So you put a facelift 09 module in your car also? I thought it would have been much easier for you since your wires are all going to the right place already and you just need to swap modules and add a few more. Looks like I need to reroute all mine from the front of the cabin to the trunk now. Am I not understanding this correctly?

    Correct.
    Pre facelift have seperate module
Facelift have all pdc connected directly to the BCM.

I have facelift BCM because i facelifted the car with matrix headlights.
I still have PDC module in the trunk because its simply is too much work to rewire and no end result.
So ik my BCM all pdc is not coded as it runs through the PDC module and is coded in there.

In your case you simply add the missing wires to the BCM and activate PLA / 360 OPS.

Rewiring PDC to seperate pre facelift module would be a waste of time.

Thanks for clarifying. My goal was to add parallel park assist where the vehicle steers for you. 360 OPS that your referring to is the top view with all the cameras right? The only way for me to accomplish park assist is to rewire from the BCM to the new park assist module correct?

No you connect to the BCM. Basicly its 4 new wires. One from each new sensor (2 ik front and 2 in rear).
So 4 cables to the bcm is much easier than rewiring your whole pdc system.

No. The 360 OPS is a part og the PLA.
So you get semi self parking and 360 OPS.

Ser attached picture of the 360 OPS.

My 18 Prestige S7 has this feature. I gotta say it’s pretty crappy compared to my friends mercedes and bmw 360 view. This was a hugely disappointing feature. And the backup camera.

You are comparing 360 pdc with 360 camera?

I agree that the camera quality is appalling on the C7/7.5.

I don’t really understand those abbreviations cause we don’t really use them in the US. Is your system just the normal parking system with extra sensors? When you wire it to the BCM, will it steer for you and still use the EXTRA park assist switch? I saw the diagram in Elsa for park assist with the separate module but I didn’t see one that wired the extra sensors and switch to the BCM. I’ll havta look again at work tmw.

Yes. It fully working PLA (semi selfparking) which steer the steering wheels etc.
Since you are looking on pre facelift diagrams its correct that it have seperate module. Its the pdc module in the trunk.
You change it from 8 channel (normal pdc) to 8 channel PLA module that supports self parking.

On facelift the PDC module is integrated into the bcm. So there is no extra module but simply wired directly to the bcm.
Coding is also done in the bcm.

My confusion comes in because I’m not looking at prefacelift diagrams. I’m looking at it under my Vin and I see both diagrams. I see the park assist diagram that shows a separate module and I also see the newer version that goes to the BCM but it doesn’t show the extra sensors or button to the BCM so I assumed I have to use the older diagram. Also, when I check in ETKA it shows if I have PR code 7X5 on the facelift vehicle then it requires a separate module which is the one I purchased from Germany which was 4G0919475G as opposed to the prefacelift module which was 4H0919475AB. Do you have access to Elsa and can tell me which diagram you are looking at? I work in a few hours so I’ll look again but the only diagram I found for that feature required another module regardless if it was before or after facelift.

They probably got posted out of order but these are the only 2 diagrams I could find for the facelift A6. Neither show that parallel sensors going to the BCM.

No I did not. I haven't even attempted the install yet but wanted to be prepared with the necessary coding or adaptation changes. But after your response I was a little confused about the self parking PLA system since these were the only 2 wiring diagrams I could find. It appears if I want self parking PLA then I need to add the 4 extra sensors and the additional module and uncode my BCM for parking.

    Hey Wuplur,
Were you able to get this working? As a total gadget geek (and horrible parallel parker) I'm really interested in adding this to my 2016 A6.

    Thanks,
    Brian

Not yet, was planning on tackling this one weekend this summer. Got the sensors & brackets painted, just gotta figure out how I’m gonna drill the bumper brackets since they are more oval than round.

    Bump,

Anyone have any input on the necessary coding or adaptation changes after the retrofit? I’m still procrastinating since it seems like it’s gonna be pretty time consuming.

In your case you simply add the missing wires to the BCM and activate PLA / 360 OPS.

Rewiring PDC to seperate pre facelift module would be a waste of time.

    @Dawid, hi!
I have pretty the same config as yours.
    I have A7 2010 and did facelift for it with BCM replacement. I've replaced ordinary parcklife 8k(Part No SW: 4H0 919 475 H HW: 4H0 919 475 C) with PLA module (Part No SW: 4H0 919 475 M HW: 4H0 919 475 E), so i got PLA works well but OPS 360 doesn't.
    PCD looks like:

    i've resolved this problem. my PLA (4H0 919 475 M) module was incompatible with camera (6C) module 4G0 907 441 A.
    i did update from 4G0 907 441 A to 4G0 907 441 B (this firmwares have the same HW 4G0 907 441 block )and all works fine now.
    10 block final coding is B80304;
44 block final coding is 101100010001

    Hello!
    Have you finished your project?
Is it possible to connect additional sensors to the BCM? Or you installed new parking module ? (10)
Elsa doesn't include such diagrams. I am installing park assist on Audi 2015, 4G, Facelift. I have like in you car. Currently, sensors are connected to the BCM.

I’m still sitting on all the parts and have been to lazy to try and install. I don’t believe it can goto the BCM and I’ll need to reroute all the sensor wiring to the new (10) module.

I was able today to launch the 360 top view cameras (4).
When I will finish with laying the camera's cables I will come back to park assist.
I have completely new wiring for 12 sensors. I bought a broken parking controller. Now I'm waiting for a new one.
I will update you with result. Probably next week.

Even ano Aliexpres I found cobler to retrofit Parking Pilot. There is information that all sensor must be taken from BCM.

Correct, that’s the part I’ve been dreading (aside from cutting the bumper) because the BCM (09) is in the front and the park pilot module is in the rear so I’ll have to extend all those front wires to the back cause my kit only came as an upgrade 8 to 12 sensor system and doest include all the wires, just the extra missing ones. I’m grateful that you are much more motivated than me when it comes to this retrofit

i personally would like just to have the 360 view with the extra front and side cameras since my car did not some with it. but seems that it's a costly adventure for little gains. if it was more cost effective i might want to add it.

This feature didn't come to the US until later but yes, our cars can be retrofitted to self park because it was available in other markets.
