    weight reduction?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I see a lot of 1/4 guys referencing "full weight," or "no weight reduction" when posting their times. Is there a ton of weight to be saved on these cars? I know the obvious stuff like wheels, brakes, seats, battery, misc. trunk stuff - but is that all they're referring to, or is there a lot more I'm forgetting about? Any easy stuff that really doesn't affect daily driver cars?

I just weighted my car(RS3) on Friday at the racetrack, I had 3 LEDs of fuel and roughly 40lbs of extra weight and the car weighted 3,572 lbs without me.
8V RS3 [email protected] mph (ran a few 11.7s stock and ran 118+mph several times)
8Y RS3 k&N filter ran [email protected] (ran 11.6 5 times and trapped 120+ several times)

I removed floor mats in the past and also rear trunk liner and hard board.

Some people are hardcore, will fast before a track rental, become slightly dehydrated and poop out whatever bile is left... well that's in addition to significant weight reduction.

I daily my car about 80% of the time and have removed about 100 lbs but still have full back seats for my dogs.

With the rs3 sedan, you can remove 300 lbs easy, the rest takes more work, commitment and $ to shed off through simple gutting or light weight replacements of various components.

The average drag or track junky will likely never remove over 500 lbs and even at that point, you have given up most creature comforts. Absolutely gutted, ac removed, door cards, etc, I think getting these cars under 2900 is doable.

Having a few s4s that I have gotten stupid with, I highly doubt I will ever go this direction with the rs3. It ruins the car for normal use and it's currently my best all around car.
