I wanted to share my unbias thoughts about this company and the team that supports it.

    Customer service:
I've been a car enthusiast for over 20 years and modified all types of cars, boosted sr20's,evos, wrx, s2k, Camaro SS, etc etc. And so far, I have to tip my hat off to John and Brian for their unparalleled customer support. They have gone above and beyond any other companies I've worked with in the past. Although there are hundreds if not thousands of customers out there, they treat you as if you are always a number 1 priority.

    Products:
I hold a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Reliability Engineering. Thus, I am very particular when it comes down to the quality and performance of any product. The time, effort and details they put into their products definitely shines. There are several vendors out there that always wants to be first out in the market and sometimes their quantity over quality shows. However, Unitronic focuses on maximizing reliability and performance while minimizing cost(which is very hard to do). This equates to a happy customer each and every time.

This general review of Unitronic was long overdue and finally got around making sure I put my $. 02 out there. And no, I did not receive any free products or money from Unitronic.

Thanks John and Brian for your continued support. If anyone has any questions, shoot me a message.

We’re pretty good at this stuff, HPA and Malone are both in Surrey BC as well.

Who is Brian at Unitronic? What does he do there?
Been dealing with Unitronic since 2013, never heard of a Brian that works there...

HPA, wow, so miss those awesome days.
HPA vs EIP (RIP Rich) vs Streetwerke vs GIAC.
Had bought an HPA turbo kit back in 2007.
Was so awesome to go from NA to FI, and hear that sweet GT30 turbo spool sound, and still have a little wookie left in the exhaust note.

    Memories....

Malone vs rocketchip (was rc3) for the alh TDI back in 2009. Not sure if I knew of malone then, or if they even existed.

Unitronic is at the top of my list as well. I am lucky to have E85 3 miles from my house and will be going full stage 2. I also really like how they already have an ECU and TCU combo and love the flash it yourself approach.

After Using multiple tuners over the years I switched to Unitronic exclusively on my personal vehicles since 2012 and haven’t looked back.

I went out of my way to get them on board with us because I believed in their products and business model. The amazing customer service ties the whole thing together.

It’s really great to be a part of their network and be able to sell a product I have full confidence in.

I’ve only opened one ticket with Unitronic... but they were very quick to respond!

Anyone have the TCU tune? I can justify spending the money for the extra HP with the ECU tune but having a hard time spending that kind of money for the TCU.

Is it night and day? Big difference?

    +1

Reasons I am also a fan. (Have used them on multiple cars)

    Refined, high performance tunes
    Quality hardware
Data driven engineering when it comes to anything they do
Best bang for the buck (hardware or software)
    Super reliable
    Amazing customer service

Might have missed one or two, but you get the point. I flashed their RS3 tune the day it became available for our platform without any hesitation. I’ve put over 20k trouble free miles on it. Wouldn’t expect any less from them.

Unitronic is great and John is a world class tuner.

One thought though, they were one of the first to market with software for this platform. Not that it matters lol.

Thanks for the feedback, guys! We're happy to hear that you're enjoying our products! I'm sorry in advance for the other stuff you have to deal with in the thread.

Brian is an enthusiast that purchased our products for many of his cars over the past years and we've developed a great relationship. He's very passionate about his Audi's and even more passionate about the Unitronic brand. He's offered to assist in testing products and promoting Unitronic through his everyday enthusiasm for the platforms/cars. Hope that helps!

Agreed with all of the above mentioned. I have had on previous Audi's MTM, GIAC, and APR. Unitronic has been by far the best one to deal with and the one that is closer to OEM power delivery. I recommended it to others that are local to me and they are very happy with it as well. Keep up the good work!

I agree, UNI is a good tuning co, and John went above and beyond with assisting me with all my questions. I felt I wasn't getting 105hp increase, found out it is closer to a hp increase in the 60's, since the stock RS3 puts out close to 440hp on their dyno. Why I was like, am I tuned or? Had a few hiccups another thread mentioned, that stage 2 cured, but not 1+, but that is about it. John was very responsive in crazy hours and days (weekends), so I most definitely do suggest them, so far, over the rest, if you want a tune that leaves you with more peace of mind along with some decent powa. My previous posts were not against uni, just to be clear.

I consider it in a way preventative maintenance, granted my experience was through the eye of a friend on a different platform. My friend was one of the first to tune his GTR when they first came out. At that time there weren't many "autos" being tuned, long story short the tune cooked his clutches and his tranny. Trans tunes later started to come out, but damage had been done.

The GTR I feel is very similar to this platform as I don't think anyone saw a race for 8's coming to this platform, but here we are..

SO! Get the TCU tune, your car will just be much happier! Higher clamping pressures and better shift points help deal with the extra power similar how you would upgrade your clutch in a manual. Cheap out on supporting mods and you could very well pay the price.

I agree with the first part, but sadly your second statement is probably why I'm not with them anymore. My car rejected the tune, they were willing to help, but I wasn't willing to keep beating my car with the wrong tune. They were great though gave me my refund promptly, only sour bc I still have a flash cable that I used twice over 3 days and is now useless. I will give them another shot, down the road on another platform though, great customer service and John was very professional.

You're not judged by how you act when things are going well, but how you act when things go south. They were very helpful and understanding even in a less than ideal situation.

Happy with them so far! I had Uni turbo inlet installed last Friday on my car which isn't tuned and I certainly feel a better throttle response! I also have the APR FMIC and Eventuri intake. I'll be strongly considering them for a tune, but at the moment not going to risk it until my warranty is over as I've never had one done before. John, definitely is very informative and helpful as I did pick his brain before getting the turbo inlet.

I haven't tuned my RS3 yet, but I will be going to Unitronic when I do.

I had a stage 1+ tune on my MK6 GTI and it turned ho-hum performance into an amazingly fun car (200 hp to 268 hp). The vehicle always ran well, even in frigid Canadian prairie winters.

Just loaded up the 1+ program yesterday. Throttle response seems smoother. Didn't get much of a chance to really "test" it out this morning on the commute to work.

You should give them another shot. Calibration is one thing, that's tuning to me. Infrastructure or a flash issue is another.

When you say your car rejected the tune, what do you mean specifically? Did the car ever operate on the file? Wrong version?

Rejected was the wrong term, but being at sea level there's a little more fine tuning that needed to be done. Those details are no longer important, but everything happens for a reason. Like I said before I was very appreciative of how Unitronic handled themselves from the dealer to John himself and will give them a shot on another platform when that time comes.

Here's my 2 cents on the TCU tune.

To me I didn't notice one thing. And I am that type of person that notices every minute detail about my car. I feel (someone correct me if I am wrong) that the stage 1 TCU tune doesn't actually tweak that much in the factory software since it is already really good. I know its needed if you want to play with the custom launch control settings. Supposedly the shifts are faster, and maybe they are a little, its hard to notice much difference at all to be honest. As far as I know there is no clamping pressure increases with the Stage 1 tune. However, I am a completionist type person, I just feel like I need the TCU tune to match the ECU tune. But, honestly, I don't think it does all that much that you will notice.

Sorry for the poor review, but I am honest if nothing else.

Side Note: I have the Unitronics ECU + TCU tune on my Golf Alltrack and love them, that Alltrack is properly fast now!

For me the TCU tune was Very noticeable.. I mean like PDK speed noticeable and clamping pressure increase felt.

You are on stage 2 tho aren't you? Stage 2 does increase clamping pressure, not so much for stage 1....

in regards to the TCU stage 1 tune i did notice that the transmissions felt less confused and would no longer short shift on it's own when using launch control regardless of what mode you were in. Stage 2 TCU is where it's really at if you want to feel a difference!

Sure, but nothing stage 2 is available yet :) I'm scared of doing downpipes tho, I really am happy with the amount of noise the car makes with the sport exhaust, not sure I or my neighbors will appreciate the extra noise of downpipes. (I'm still not entirely sure if aftermarket downpipes replace the cats? aren't the cats after the downpipes?)
