Yes I've searched - but Premium vs Premium Plus...options...oh my.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
OK so I've started my search for a '14 -'16 Allroad. I've searched and googled but still having a hard time getting it.
Today I drove a Premium Plus - but it didn't have Nav, backup camera or Bang & Olufson stereo. Premium Plus Lite lol.
Tomorrow I may go look at a Premium car but it has Nav, heated seats, upgraded stereo (what would this be in the Premium - is it the B&O?), xenons, not sure about backup camera. Seems this car might be better equipped than the P+, no?
If you get a Premium car with the right options (heated seats, xenon, nav, camera, stereo) what are you really missing compared to a Premium Plus??
Do all Allroads have adjustable lumbar?

    Thanks-

    Brandon

Premium Plus comes standard with heated seats, memory seats, three-zone climate control, auto dimming mirrors, and xenon lights. To my knowledge, the memory seats, three-zone climate, and auto-dim mirrors are not available options on the Premium, however you can add options such as Navigation, and premium sound that can make the Premium trim car better equipped than a low-option Premium Plus.

If you get a well optioned Premium, no you are not really missing out on much vs. a Premium Plus. The only thing I would look into is whether or not the Premium has folding rear seats. I know for the sedan you had to get a Premium Plus or Prestige to have the folding rear seat; I would assume all Allroads have the folding seat, but I would confirm this when looking at Premium models.

All B8 A4/Avant/Allroad models in the US should have adjustable lumbar & the only premium sound system available for these cars is the Bang & Olufsen, which can be identified by the silver rings around the speaker grills with "Bang & Olufsen" etched into them.

    Hope that helps!

And the B and O is definitely the one you want. Great sound

Whatever you get, make sure it's Quattro, has factory LED DRL's, and S-Line package. Regular bumpers and halogen lights look horrid.

It is not easy to figure that out because Audi changes the available options almost every year.
Best thing to do is to search for Brochure by model year and keep track of options you wanted using a spreadsheet.

    Example, 2014 and 2015 Brochures:

Order guides. The brochures show what's available in each trim, but not how they were combined. You want to find the Audi US Ordering Guide for 2014, 15, and 16 and go over the A4 allroad page to see exactly how things were possible. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear this web site has any kind of knowledge resource containing the brochures and ordering guides for each year. So you have to go find them yourself.

I personally never look at anything but Prestige trim. For 2014 and 2015, a Prestige trim with neither of the two options (sport interior and driver assistance) would be just fine with me. Though I'd miss the drive select controls (driver assistance in 2014, sport interior or driver assistance in 2015). Though you can option a Premium Plus near to a Prestige, there will always be a few details you can't get except at the Prestige trim. But they got rid of that entirely in 2016 for the A4, so Premium Plus optioned up is what you would have to look for.

Premium is a waste of time unless you're broke. No auto dimming mirrors, no B&O sound, no advanced key, no nav; not even as options. But you could option for heated seats or bixenon headlamps. But that was 2014; 2015 you could at least add Nav as an option, and the bixenon headlamps were standard.

Backup camera. Looks like it was never available on Premium, always present on Prestige, and only present on Premium Plus if you had the Navigation Plus package (2014) or Technology package (2015/2016).

Yeah, Technik is some trim line in Canada and I think in some Europe countries, but it has no meaning here in the US. Here we have simply Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. Looking at Audi CA, it seems it's Komfort, Progressiv, and Technik up there? No idea if they line up with how AoA bundles our trims here.

Me also. Mine also came with heated seats, it's a 2010.

If a backup camera and nav are that important, you can always buy a lower trimmed model and add the RSNAV unit. It's all of that packaged into Android and can look OEM in the MMI or you can get the larger screen. Lots of into on the boards about it.

OK that helps a lot guys - thanks.
I think what I'm looking for is Premium Plus with Nav (so this comes with backup camera then, right), B&O, and I want wood trim (not that you guys car about that lol). I have not seen any Allroads in Prestige around here, but obviously that would be fine.

    Thanks again-

    Brandon

I'd add you want a Premium Plus w/ Nav (yes on rear camera), B&O (look for the silver circles on door speaker grills) & Sport package (sport seats and 3 spoke steering wheel). With the 3 spoke, if you want to add a better steering wheel later, you already have the correct round airbag.

Prestige brings more goodies but are much rarer in the wild used (and most were black when I was looking). You should have a decent amount to choose from in CO.

Perhaps that was an optional extra on the Premium then. My mum had a 2012 Premium and it did not have folding rear seats; however, my 2013 Premium Plus is equipped with them.

Premium Plus is also available with those features with the "Audi Advanced Key" option. According to my 2013 window sticker it was a $550 add-on so not all are equipped with it I'm guessing. Definitely a nice feature to have!

You're in Canada. A US B8 A4 Premium sedan does not have folding rear seats. All about the specifics.

edit - my error, 2011 and later do not; 2009 and 2010 Premium did have folding rear seats. But that's US. CA could be completely different.

You want the P+ package, sports package and tech package (which includes B&O).

I waited 6-mo to find mine with all the options.

It sucks there’s no prestige package that gave you the sport seats and wheel.

My AR is a 2015 w/P+, Tech Package, B & O, Sport Package, and Deck Lid Spoiler ($50,990 MSRP).

Not mentioned previously, but P+ gets auto-dimming rear-view mirror as well as auto-dimming power folding heated side mirrors.

The Tech Package includes Color DIS, Nav, Audi Connect (Mobile Hotspot) via subscription, rearview camera, and Side Assist (Blindspot Protection - nice feature, BTW).

I had to travel 300 miles to Eastern WA state to find it, as I wanted the titanium gray & black interior (vs black), and all the new in-stock ARs in Western WA had black interior.

The titanium gray interior came with a black headliner, due to the Sport Package, as did the Sport Seats with 4-way power lumbar (both sides).

It also has folding rear seats, with the cargo security cover.
