    Audi A4 Headlight Replacement

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey Everyone! (Sorta-Noob here)
So, I was able to locate the part number for my specific VIN number but I can't seem to find any headlight replacements that will fit. My car has the Xenon headlights.

    Driverside: 8E0941029G
    Passenger: 8E0941030G

Most important is the Passenger but I'd like to replace both if I can find a fairly priced set. It doesn't have to be factory OEM but whatever will work with my vehicle. Thank you in advance!

Edit: I should mention that the ones I do find don't seem to have the same part model (F instead of G) or they say "don't find factory OEM HID" so I'm just confused and can't find any replacements!

Googling says those part #'s correspond to the 2002-specific D2S versions of the headlight, vs the 2002.5 and up versions, which use D1S bulbs/ballasts. If you're going to replace the entire unit (housing, bulb, ballast) then it doesn't matter. The only real incompatibility is being sedan/avant and cabriolet -- those are not interchnageable.

If I were looking to purchase a set of new B6 headlights, I'd either try to find a set of low-mileage S4 bixenon housings and install new bulbs/ballasts, or buy a set of EU-style aftermarket housings (Depo, Helix) and install a full projector/bulb/ballast kit from the retrofit source. That's what I did 6+ years ago when I made this writeup: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...n-OEM-for-less

Man! I appreciate that info. Seriously.

I hate sounding like someone who doesn’t have quite the time to go all that since I need them ASAP. Do you have any recommendations for kits/both driver and passenger side? Is not all good :) I just sincerely appreciate you replaying

If you see this, help teach me how to work on my own car. I know I can do it.

I also might ask a lot of questions. But it's only because I'm curious and want to make sure

Edit again: I have to the 3.0 base line 4 door sedan. Just an FYI if that helps

Last edit: these look just let mine but I’m skeptical...

The Amazon link looks to be a halogen set of headlights and not Xenon like you said you currently have. I'm not aware of the umnitza website you linked above but the price for the headlights seems in line with what I've seen for a similar non-OEM set on other sites.

The set on Umnitza looks like a Helix or Depo set. I have them and have been happy w/ them. Just be aware they will not come w/ leveling motors or any other "guts". I didn't swap my motors over and just adjusted everything manually and pulled the fuse for the headlight leveling function from what I remember.

Thanks for the input guys. So, I know you guys have mentioned "changing out the guts" but the driverside headlight is D1S and for some reason after getting some work done on the car by a few different mechanics, the passenger side headlight has as D2S (don't ask me why they changed it, i have no idea, but the original was both D1S). I'm just trying to replace the entire headlight unit. Literally pop it out, put a new one in. That's the only reason I don't want to swap out the guts since technically they are both different... (I know, track down the mechanic who changed it) I just don't have time and I'd rather buy a completely new headlight unit.

THANK YOU ALL!! I'm just driving around with a headlight out and I hate it. (yes I changed the D2S but it didn't work...so i'm guessing that unit is faulty. though the turn single and highbeam turns on)

Alright! So you have the Umnitza ones that I linked. I keep hearing about the Ballasts which I assume is the motor that makes them move? I guess since I already have a pair of D1S lights https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

In the shopping cart for the Umnitza, what all do I need to select (aside from the Black color since those look cool)? Again, my apologies for my ignorance, I just want to make sure what I'm doing is correct... Also, if I need a ballast, do you have a link to the correct type? i'd rather pull the fuse like you did but if it's not too pricey, or hard to install, I don't mind.

I don't know that you'll find a new plug/play solution from any online vendor, at the very least you'd need to buy bulbs/ballasts separately. I'd stay away from any place that sells a HID retrofit kit with aftermarket headlights, it will likely be suboptimal.

Over the years, I've built several of the Depo + TRS Mini-H1 setups like in my DIY link for others here on the forums who like you wanted a plug/play solution, if you're interested in that just shoot me a PM and I can price it out for you.

I think I might be in the same situation as the original poster of this thread. Matt Devo, so you can build a plug-and-play set of headlights for a 2004 A4 sedan? I know this thread is old, so I'll try PM'ing you too.
