Advice on 20 inch rims

Hi everyone,
Pretty new to getting after market rims so just wanted some advice. I have a 2019 s5 sportback, looking to get 20/10.5 with 27 or 35 offset. And for tires looking at 285/30/20. My question is will this set up work? Don’t want too much rubbing or for it to cause any issues and will this give me an aggressive wider look?

Shouldn't be a problem to do a 20X10.5 ET30 on 275/30 tires. Here's an example of one on Vossen HF-2 Wheels:

You didn't stipulate if you were planning to ALSO lower the car, so if on stock springs, you have lots of room. We were blessed with a ton of stock wheel gap, yay! lol

Thanks for the input. Im probably going to end up lowering the car.

What are your opinions on staggered? I originally wanted to go bigger tires in the rear, like 305s, but might just go with 285 all around

err....from memory, I think staggered on quattro is not recommended. Hopefully one of our wheels gurus/vendors will chime in.

Running staggered isn't recommended for quattro but if one does it, the overall diameter of the tires should be less than 1% different, ideally the same. So if you really want to run a 305 then it should be a 325/25R20 with a 255/30R20 up front. These would provide an OD of 26", same as OE.

For a S5, a 275/30R20 is really the max I'd recommend with it being 1.8% bigger than the stock 255/35R19. The Vossen pictured above are really a great spec. A bit of stretch if not lowered but once lowered provide a great fit. For non lowered, doing a 20x10" ET30 with a 275/30R20 is a great fit.

Thank you so much for your input! I’m planning on getting the niche gamma m190 and the option for 20s are 20/10.5 with et of either 27 or 38. Which offset would you recommend?
With 10.5s do you think I need to go to 285/35 tires or will 285/30 be fine ?

ET27 but they will stick past fenders when not lowered, less so when lowered. I'd recommend 275/30R20 vs 285/30R20. Definitely not 285/35R20.

Closer to overall diameter of the original tire. You want to stay within 3% at most. 285 would be around 2.8%.

I was leaning toward 285 because I like the wide look, 285 would look wider than 275s correct? Sorry lots of questions, pretty new to this

Yes but will also proved a different steering feel vs stock. Will feel more weighted plus added weight.

Not trying to dissuade you. Just want you to be aware of the sides. I’m going with a 285/30R20 on 20x10” but the OE are 275/30, so a minor difference.

I think I’ll go with the 275’s. It still looks pretty wide so I’d rather not sAcrifice ride quality or take on the extra weight if it’s noticeable.

No problem. Just remember, the picture I posted is of a 275/30R20 on 20x10” not a 20x10.5”. If you go with 10.5” and 275, you’ll have more of a stretched look.

I previously had 14 s7 and got the velos d5 21" 10.5 with et 33. I still have wheels and was wondering if anyone has run a 21" setup? Checking with will it fit.com i would need a 295/25r21 to be close to stock diameter. Anyone have thoughts on this?

A 185/80R13 is about as large of a 13 you can go. They fit too. With a 14 inch wheel tyre combo I believe 195/65r14 is about the biggest you can go on the standard offset aftermarket rims without modifying guards.

So i highly suggest not staggering the wheels on the car. What we can do i go ahead and do a wheel with a staggered conical profile. Much like the images you see above of our TAG S5 Sportback.

There are tons of different options. Especially if you're going to lower it, it can certainly be easily done without any issue :)
