Debating putting one of these on my rims but the reviews online seem iffy at best. Anyone tried any of them?

Or, ya know, get a set of tires that extend past the wheel. Has saved me from curbing a few times.

Lol. Wide tires sound fun. I may look for “smart” curb feelers that connect to my parking sensors :)

Was more of a curiosity post as I saw a few folks on the forum who already had it and wanted to see if anyone else really used them.

I never said "wide" tires. My A6 Black Optics changes the wheels to 255/35/20. It had Toyos on it when I bought it and they afforded virtually no protection. The Michelins I have on it now are actually designed with a lip to protect wheels.

This is just one example of it. You can see the lip taper away from the wheel, which would protect it from minor curb rash.

Got it. Very cool. Thanks for sharing. I am going with bigger tires this time (295/45/20 Continental DWS 06) but I’m not sure about the tire lip on it.

Regarding the link you posted above for the SQ5 part out, the BBS CI-R come with stainless steel rim guards. They weren't applied afterwards.

    What width are your VMR?

Specs on these tires? Are these the 255? They look pretty wide, and I would love a little lip like this to prevent the minor curb rash.

No those are not my specific tires (I actually have the A/S 3+) but mine do have the lip like that. You can get some good pics on Tire Rack too--that's just the first one I found online.

Pretty good basic rule of doing car mods and/or repairs, etc. .... Anything that requires affixing with common super glue is a huge red flag!

Totally agree, no way this rubber strip that is super glued down will protect your rim with the slightest contact with concrete. The BBS rim proctector is a metal strip that is high quality 3M taped and it works pretty well but is still susceptible to move and allow the curb to do slight damage to the rim. Depends on angle and force. I wouldn’t waste my time with these
