    Turbo muffler delete worth doing?

Hi all. I have no plans to tune the car. I'm likely adding a CAI soon. Is it worth the money and installation hassle (specifically the bottom bolt that everyone complains about) to also add a turbo muffler delete while I have the stock airbox off? I'm not expecting any performance gains with it but maybe a slight increase in the turbo noise? Thanks in advance.

its adds a little sound, I was hoping to hear some nice turbo spool, but it seems the turbo is too small.

I put one on my A3. Total waste of time and money. I didn't hear or feel any difference. You're better off upgrading to a high flow turbo inlet pipe. That made a big difference on my S3.

Anybody that says they can feel a few HP difference is simply deluded. Most performance mods won't make any difference you can distinctly tell other than ECU/TCU mods, but together they can make an overall nice difference. I didn't hear or feel any difference with APR CAI & Turbo inlet, Neuspeed turbo outlet and pipes and muffler delete. Just because I can't hear or feel any difference doesn't mean there isn't any though. If you are trying to win stoplight drags, I'd do, and did do, lots of mods. If you want something you really notice, ECU/TCU and exhaust are about it. That said, I didn't have any issues at all changing out the turbo muffler; not sure what all the fuss is about. With the mods in my sig, I got a 3.6 sec 0-60 first try with a passenger and slightly uphill... that's pretty stinking quick!

Why would a turbo inlet pipe make any difference if you're not making any changes to the turbo itself? The bottleneck is still the inlet to the actual turbo itself. You can have as large as a pipe as you want or smooth it down as much as you want prior to the turbo - at the end, you still have to "neck" that huge pipe down to the turbo's inlet size.

I've seen flow charts that show the turbo inlet is a bigger restriction than the intake.

The turbo inlet "muffer" also acts as a shock absorber for the intake system...along with the blow off valve...

    The intakes plastic...

Fyi, this also keeps the engine bay, especially the top of the intake manifold, much cleaner.

Yea I would skip the muffler delete if you did not do the turbo inlet pipe. Unitronic's piece has proven numbers if you want to check them out
