I have a 2012 A6 3.0T Premium Plus with about 136K on it (Bought at 50K in 2015 and LA driving miles are ridiculous), do you think I'll be able to get an extended warranty?

Seems like every year I get hit with a $3K+ fix. I'd rather drop that into a warranty!

Anyway recently came into some repairs, thought I had just a slow coolant leak, turns out the thermostat got stuck closed which caused slight overheating and pressure build up which cracked a few coolant pipes, along with my passenger side radiator fan failing. Got quoted $3600 from my independent shop. So this warranty would definitely be of help!

I have Delta Auto Protect which I bought during 2017 holiday sale (yes holiday sale during Xmas).
    If I recall it’s 3 years 50k miles.
My friend has the same warranty on his B8 A4 but he paid $2400 for it and I paid like $1800 because of the sale.
I’ve only use it once at Audi dealer to replace water pump.

I see you have quite a few mods on your car based on your signature. You didn't run into any hassle with your car being modded when replacing the water pump? Just paid your deductible (I'm assuming) and you were on your way?

As someone who’s looking to move to a used S6 in a short amount of time myself this thread is particularly useful to me.

Based on what I’ve read my best bet is to either buy a car from CarMax and get their bumper to bumper warranty. Or buy a car still under the factory warranty (4 year / 50K miles) and buy the extended warranty from Audi directly.

From what I gather both of those warranties are underwritten by Fidelity which is seemingly the best backed extended warranty for bumper to bumper coverage.

    Is anything I’ve stated incorrect?

Probably the best bet, however, you can still buy a warranty for a used car through a company like Autopom or Carchex.

I believe Carchex is administered by Royal Centennial. Reviews are terrible. However, has anyone here had any experience with Carchex / Royal Centennial? Positive or negative?

I got a quote for my car and it was a lot more than I thought.

    Vehicle: 2016 - 2019 Audi S7 with 10,001 – 25,000 miles:

Audi Pure Protection Platinum Through Safe Guard (term and mileage from the car's inception):
    7 yr / 70K - $3620.00
    7 yr / 100K - $5645.00
    7 yr / 120K - $6435.00
    8 yr / 80K - $4670.00
    8 yr / 100K - $6435.00
    8 yr / 120K - $7230.00
    10 yr / 100K - $6595.00
    10 yr / 120K - $7825.00

Fidelity Platinum (term and mileage from the date of purchase of the warranty):
    3 yr / 36K - $2529.00
    4 yr / 48K - $3533.00
    5 yr / 60K - $4386.00
    5 yr / 75K - $4875.00
    6 yr / 60K - $4889.00
    6 yr / 72K - $5372.00
    6 yr / 85K - $6660.00
    6 yr / 100K - $8086.00
    7 yr / 70K - $5648.00
    7 yr / 100K - $9423.00

So if I wanted 7 years and 100k miles on my car (which has 2 years and 15k miles as of now):

    • Audi's Pure Protection through Safe Guard: 7 year @ 100k @ $5,645
    • Fidelity: 5 year @ 75k (which would only get me 7 years and 90k miles): $4,7875 or
    • Fidelity: 6 year @ 85k (which would get me 8 years and 100k miles): $6,660.

Audi's plan would be cheaper for me or spend less and lose 10k miles.

    Do these prices seem legit?

    Thanks for the response.
    One more questions for you.
Based on the info I gathered, If you have Audi Protection plan, you have to get it while your car still has warranty and the term starts from the in-service date of the vehicle not when you purchase it.
Do you mind sharing where did you buy it from?
I'm shopping for an extended warranty as well and would like to get the correct info to make the decision.
    Thanks in advance

Sure, I got mine from the Audi dealer I purchased the car from. The car is out of stock warranty since it's over 4 years old, original in service date was August of 2014. So I have the out of service warranty. Which I'm happy about, since the extended warranty started when I bought the car.

Just a note on this - My warranty has already covered a bad alignment (done at Carmax, hence why it was covered), the transmission oil pan gaskets, and the air suspension compressor, relay, and all recoding required done by the Audi dealership. The car is still with Audi as the air suspension issue hasn't been resolved - my warranty has paid for itself many times over at this point and has only been active for a month. Not a single bit of backlash from the warranty company either. I've even been provided with a Mazda CX5 Grand Touring loaner car. Not an Audi, but it's free and scores 35mpg on the highway! My deductible has also been waived due to all this happening within the first 30 days of ownership.

I've had two previous warranty's through Carmax, but never had to use them. Glad to see they back the warranty, especially since you have a tune.
I kind of wish they would have had a car I wanted, but after 3 months of looking I bought one elsewhere.

Their customer service is outstanding. Normally I don’t buy cars from Carmax but this one came with everything on it already, and was priced as a stock S6 as Carmax doesn’t usually take mods into consideration when selling cars, according to the sales manager I spoke to.

I am actively shopping for an aftermarket warranty and goodness all their websites look like fly-by-night affairs that could take your money today and be gone tomorrow. Not really confidence inspiring.

How did you get it cheap? I assume low miles account for that?

Yeah, pretty sure the pricing is based on your current mileage. Troy's notes have this on the header. Vehicle: 2016 Audi RS7 with 10,001 – 25,000 miles:

Got it mostly for whoever has this car after me, 50-80k car buyers have lots of options new or used so a warranty is helpful and Troy said there's a prorated refund option if needed.

The dealership I bought my car at gave a lifetime 250k bumper to bumper for ant car with under 75k on it. The downside is they aren't an Audi dealer and seem to know jack about working on the car. It took them 2-3 days to replace the right motor mount.

What bothered me was they inspected it before purchase and found nothing wrong. I took it to an Audi dealership who found the motor mount. Went back to purchase dealership and they said they had no clue that motor mount existed. It's almost like I will have to pay an Audi mechanic to find the problem and then take to them to be fixed.

Who's the warranty through? You likely can take it anywhere, such as an Audi dealer.

I believe it is through that dealership. I'll try to find the paperwork for it.

I have a 2016 Audi A6 TDI that has 19k miles. My factory warranty expires in October this year.

My questions are is it even worth getting a warranty when I have the TDI warranty? And my local dealer quoted me the Audi pure protection and said normal price vs what they are willing to offer me as a price. Wondering if I should try and negotiate or if they are offering a good deal. It starts in service date so Oct 2015 and it was for platinum coverage. Here is what I was quoted...

    5 year 60k platinum $3570 $2549

    6 year 60k* platinum $3710 $2749

    7 year 70k platinum $4740 $3749

Recommended price vs what they have offered to sell the plan to me.

Just seems expensive to me since really it starts at 0 miles and Oct 2015..m but maybe I'm wrong?

some of these prices seem outrageous to me.

i posted earlier in the thread, but i got 7 year / 70k miles, from new. so the warranty is technically only covering me 3 years /20k miles beyond factory warranty.
    Fidelity platinum coverage,
    $250 deductable.

No issue with mod last time.
Also, my car was in the dealer earlier this month due to some popping noise when turning or go over bumps.
Dealer found many control arm bushings needs to be replaced, extended warranty actually send out inspector this time, but they didn't say anything about my aftermarket suspension (I did remove the intake as that's visible).
However, Delta auto protect does not cover everything (i.e. they won't cover parts at retail dealer price, they say they can send in their parts, but then Audi can't offer 1 year parts/labor on aftermarket parts).
Since my deductible is $0, I told dealer that I will just cover the difference between Delta part prices vs dealer price as long as my cost is under $300.

One more thing is Delta are very shady with their coverage, i.e. on the warranty term they said they cover vacuum pump (which is leaking) but inspector say pump is good but the O-Ring/seal inside the pump is bad and Delta does not cover any seal/gaskets...etc.
Long story short, I told dealer to replace all the bushings that were bad. Warranty covered $17xx in repair + water pump they covered last time, it's already more than the premium I paid, so can't really complain here.

But, would I recommend the company, absolutely no, because they are slow in responding and hard to get a hold off and not easy to deal with and process is slow.

I have a 2018 Audi A6, and I purchased a Fidelity Extended Warranty from Troy at factory warranty direct. I ended up with the 10 yr/100k because I keep cars for a decade, and that annual mileage was about right for me. Below is what he quoted me...he was awesome, and the whole experience was easy and efficient.

    Vehicle: 2017 – 2019 Audi A6 with less than 10,000 miles.

Audi Pure Protection, Platinum w/ $100 deductible:

    8 yr / 80K - $3505.00
    8 yr / 100K - $4435.00
    8 yr / 120K - $4950.00
    10 yr / 100K - $5080.00
    10 yr / 120K - $5595.00

    Fidelity Platinum w/ $100 deductible:
    7 yr / 70K - $2355.00
    7 yr / 100K - $3275.00
    7 yr / 120K - $3579.00

I can't even get ahold of warranty direct. Been on hold for an hour... carchex was very pushy and almost wouldn't let me get off the phone. Quoted me $5k for 100k mile 10 year warranty for the highest coverage with a $200 deductible. That really only covers me forba total of 100k miles.

Seems so unreasonable... the car has 19.5k miles is under factory warranty until October and has the extended diesel warranty.

I give up on warranty direct called 5 times been on hold for 30 min to an hour everytime and no one ever picks up.. like seriously? If it's this hard to get a quote I couldn't imagine getting a claim handled.

Any chance someone can pass along Troy's information to me. Starting the search for an extended warranty. Are most of the non Audi warranties good about tunes and other performance upgrades?

    Troys email
    [email protected]

most aftermarket warranties won't know if you tune your ECU...they don't have the ability to scan and know what programming you have.
if the car has many mods that can be visibly noticed, you may run into problems. but i think that is more of the rarity. Ive heard of more aftermarket warranty claims being denied because of the fine print exclusions that are overlooked, rather than mods.

Is this the "factory warranty direct" website where someone could reach Troy?
    http://www.fd-warranty.com/index.html

And are people still happy with the warranties he's provided?

Extended Warranty- Who do you have and Why?

I ended up getting National Warranty Corp when I got the car from the dealership. It was about $3500 ($100 deductible) and decent coverage since I mainly cared about the suspension and turbos. However, my engine mounts had to be changed recently and those weren’t covered($1800 or so). I can send you the exact coverage details of what’s included and what’s not if you’d like.
