What Do You Use Your B6 For (Daily Driver, Beater, Show Car, etc.)?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey Guys,

I was just wondering what role your B6 fits in your life? Is it your:

    -Daily Driver?
-Beater Car (if you have a nicer Audi A5/S5 for example)?
    -Show Car?
    -Track Car?
    -Etc.

We are at a point where the majority of these cars are 12-15 years old. As my car is a 2003 B6, and turning 16 years old soon, I'm thinking about turning it from daily driver to beater car, while I get something newer /funner to drive, and the B6 ends up being the car that I put miles on for road trips, errands, etc. Though I'm not sure how smart it is to be trusting a 16 year old car as a semi-reliable beater car for long-term errands, but just thought I'd ask the community their thoughts.

Hopefully, I'm clear with my questions above. I just want to understand how everyone views / uses their B6, and how you would classify the role the car plays in your life.

    TIA.

My 2004 S4 B6 cabrio is mostly my nice weather fun time car. I put the top down any chance I get and drive until the tank is empty, which of course doesn't take long! Audi no longer offers a V8 convertible or manual trans so I have no interest in buying a new car. I just keep shoveling money into this one. The reward is more smiles per mile then any other car I have ever owned. :)

My 2004 USP 3.0 has been my daily for about three years, I bought it with 60k on the clock to replace another 2004 A4 that had been my daily for several years before that. It’s now got 100k on it (I drive a LOT) with minimal upkeep.

I am looking at newer S4s and S5s and will likely turn the b6 into a winter car if I end up going that route. The thing is it’s not showing any signs of needing replacement yet.

My 2001 1.8TQ is my daily and has been that for almost 2,5 years now, it has 330k km on the clock but is still running great. Im hoping to turn it into a show/track car at some point. For now and probably the next few years my A4 will remain a daily though.

2003 A4 1.8T, daily driver. Despite being 16 years old it runs and drive great. Having a set of winter and summer tires is nice. Pretty I much never worried about having to drive in bad weather with four snows and quattro. I plan on continuing upgrades and cleanup and expect to keep it for a while. For what I would put out for a new / newer car in payments compared to what it costs me to drive it make any upgrade and repair cost seem pretty reasonable. We have one new car in the family, thats plenty.

Also the B6 is so well understood and simple to work on it kind of makes it a no brainer to keep. The one thing I won't deal with is rust and corrosion. Since its a PNW / west coast car that should never be an issue.

My '05 3.0 has 201,000 miles and is a daily driver, weekdays about 90 miles each. Nice and quiet, all new wheel bearings, touchscreen NAV installed recently, fresh steering rack and control arms, it does everything I need from a car.

Still my daily driver (since 2006). Typical B6 issues ongoing (currently a/c compressor failed, valve cover leaking) but I love the car. It's a good chassis. My clear coat is peeling... so that's unfortunate. At the same time, I just don't care. It's such a driver's car and at this stage I just consider everything patina!

My baby is 17 years old now and sitting at 324 000 km.
This B6 has taken me everywhere with never fully stranding me on the road!

It was my daily driver for the past 8 years but the time has come to use it just as a winter car (i don't like to say beater)

After getting my 2018 Gti Autobahn the goal for my audi is to tear up the snow and haul stuff around.

The car is a never ending money pit but i enjoy the heck out of it

My 04 1.8t 6spd is my daily now after I hit a deer with my B5 A4. Love it. Mod it. Beat the piss out of it. And fix it when I break it . But I put close 100 miles a day on a stock bottom end nearing 260k. I couldn't be happier with it.

My daily is b8.5 s5 2014 got it with 40k miles last year July. I did my research and got (Audi care protection) I only got powertrain protection cheapest warranty for 7years 120k miles for $2800. Be smart with newer cars alot more tech and $$$ parts. My trans (dsg) failed grinded gears at 55k miles Audi took care everything and gave me a rental for a month. Im happy cuz i got a brand new trans from Germany but bill turned out to be 9k. 8k for trans and fluid and labor due to Audi care I payed nothing. Be sure to buy a car under original manufacturer warranty period and buy Audi care protection plan from Audi dealership. Besides that car is supreme no problems I daily my S5 total of 30miles everyday all year long. Love the car. I had b8s5 V8 before this drinks gas but I do miss the v8 sound but not miss filling it up. Alot of tuning mods available. IMG_20181111_112535.jpgIMG_20181111_112556.jpg

I've got 3 b6s and each one has a purpose, silver 02 is too low so it's a summer daily and I got my wife's 1.8t tip for a winter car since she gets to rock the Q5. Then I built myself a 2.7t swapped 3.0 B6 cause I couldn't turn down the car however I'm not ready to DD it yet.

Mines a daily. With 246k on the clock and just about everything you can replace replaced it runs OK now lol... Body is starting to rust so it may be time to start looking for something new.

I bought mine as a POS daily, ended up dumping a bunch of money into it making it BAT. 175k miles, e85, 28psi, daily driven.

She’s been rock solid aside from my clutch switch going out and leaving me stranded last night. Had to splice the wires together to start the car up.

Mine is my daily driver (bagged B8 S5 weekend toy). Bought it about a year ago with a blown head gasket, cracked head, and 300k miles. Since then it got a used head, new water pump, new thermostat, new PCV system, and New timing belt. Should run another 150k miles.

Also went Motoza Stage 1+ with dual sideoumt intercoolers, 550cc injectors, HFC, and full exhaust. Runs like a top.

Been working on costmetic stuff lately. Added a full black headliner, PSS9 coilovers, color DIS instrument cluster, power folding mirrors, and H1 Mini Morimoto projectors in the OEM headlights.

Just needs the windows tinted, a set of Recaros, and runner for the NUEs I bought.

bought my 02 Avant to be a daily, drove it 1.5 winters in Michigan and decided to get a winter beater instead of drive it. Now it gets driven only on occasions, not sure why I'm keeping except i like it and don't know what would replace it.

My 04 A4 1.8 Quattro with 60k is my daily driver, I don’t really see much snow here in New Mexico, but used to live in Colorado and go up there often so it comes in handy at times. Bought the car at 45k a year ago, just did the timing belt 1k ago so it should be my daily for a very long time!

My first Audi was a 97 A4 2.8 Quattro, I bought it 3 years ago with a lot of problems. Still having issues but it’s comes a very long way. Think it’s at 200k. Not sure how much longer it’s gonna last for, but hoping for the best. Don’t really dig the paint that I bought it with, but getting a paint job just isn’t worth it with all the cars mechanical issues. I did do a complete facelift interior swap, with leather seats, which helped A LOT with the original cup holder issue. My partner uses it as a daily driver but can’t be used for long road trips, have to constantly check fluid levels.

I’ve just come to love my Audi’s. Even though they can be a pain to work on at times, I’ve just found a form of appreciation for it, no other cars interiors are appealing to me, I love the way they sound, the body style, and especially, the community around it.

My 2004 A4 1.8t Ultrasport has been my everything for the past 13 years and 375k miles. Has been year round daily driving, road trips, spirited drives, track events (HPDE), and has been in car shows.

    Here are some pics...

At the end of May this year, I picked up a 2015 S5 that is going to handle summer use (daily, road trips, etc.). The A4 will now be my daily for winter use.
