Ever thought about Autoflex instead of powder coating?

I like the colour combo of the car as is, where I am black on black is beyond played out. It's like every 5th car is a "black series" version of whatever the dealer sells. If you must, then I'd go with gloss black.

Not a fan of black rims but if you insist gloss satin black works best. IMO the best look is satin gloss black with machine face.

Thanks for helping the OP in his color option

Coming from someone who has a typical white car with a black wrapped roof one could argue if we wanted too......

I would go with satin black as it doesn't show scratches as much as gloss black will.

If you’re in northern nj, static coatings is awesome at powder coating and can show you a bunch of options. I don’t have any black wheels, but just got my winter wheels done in a dark gray with metallic flake that came out better than expected.

To clarify, my +1 was to the comment from 202009 who suggested the OP leave the stock wheel color. The existing contrast in his factory wheels looks great, IMHO, with his gloss black paint. If OP is set on changing his wheel color, then I would recommend the gloss black to complement the car’s paint color.

You’re right, my run-of-the-mill white Audi with black wrapped roof has gloss black wheels, though I don’t see how that helps OP in his analysis.

And the other posts about gloss wheels are correct: they show scratches.

I’ve had gloss black vehicles and they require a bit more TLC to look clean and great. Since OP has already made the decision to have a gloss black car, he’s already in for the wash maintenance that comes with it.

    Peace.

Bronze gives a nice contrast. Here is my S4 with bronze. But if you do black stick with satin. It will wear better in my experience. IMG_9416.JPG

Really like the way that grey looks with the metallic flakes. After seeing that I’m considering doing that color with the metallic a lot more. Ill also check out static coatings thanks for the recommendation.

These are powder coated in hyper midnight and I love how they came out.

It is a gloss but color is called hyper midnight versus black. Has some different colors that show in varying lighting conditions.

I have gloss black winter wheels and they DO show scratches as others have noted. Buffing helps, but that too much work for a winter set-up and I wouldn’t want to do it on summer wheels either..

I did hyper (gloss) black on my S6 wheels, which I put on my S4. This might give you an idea...

    Bumping this thread again..
anyone know of a powder coat manufacturer / color name to match hyper silver? this is for 20" double 5 spoke OEM Titan rims.
Im looking to match Audi's OEM color.
I ordered a bunch of swatch samples from Prismatic powders, maybe someone out there may have the correct powder match.
    Thanks!

Black chrome would be interesting color choice. Gloss would clean easier.
