Best Tire Size for 21" Stock Wheels on 2016 SQ5

Couple novice questions here so bear with me... picked up a 2016 SQ5 a couple months ago... love it. Came with the stock Summer tires, and I'd like to replace them with All Seasons (I'm in VA, it's fairly moderate here... don't need dedicated Winters).

So the stock size is 255/40... but they seem pretty low profile compare to what I'm used to, so wondering if I can get tires with a bit more meat on them.

I've seen people here recommend 265/40's... what about 265/45's? What's the largest that'll fit on the stock rims and install on the vehicle without any modifications?

Could always go to 20's or 19's but I like the look of these 21's. Appreciate the help!!

I'll let an expert on the B8 chassis weigh in. It seems like there are 2-3 common set ups people. The 265/45 option will be too much - as you increase the width, the sidewall increases naturally. So even a 265/40 will have a taller sidewall than your 245/40. If you increase the width by 20mm and then increase the aspect ratio by another 5 - you'd be oversized.

265/40 would be what I'd tell you to go after. 19s or 20s sounds like a gross idea unless you're building a track car and want lighter weight

265/45 would be oversized but only bu a small percentage. Speedo would be off 1-2mph. Nothing that would adversely effect anything.

Gotcha. So 265/45 wouldn't rub or hit anything physically? Any advantage to 45 or just stick with 265/40? Thanks again guys

You wouldn't even be able to bolt up a tire as it would interfere with the UCA. 265/40/21 Michelin Premier LTX barely fit without rubbing. From what I've seen Pirelli tires are slightly smaller and will allow more clearance .

ok guys, I'm about to pull the trigger on some 265/40 Verdes from tirerack... but now I'm confused. There are 2 listings for Verdes on the site. Pictures and reviews are identical, but there are a few differences in the specs:

    Listing 1:
    - $217
    - 105v
    - 34 lbs
    - country of origin mexico
    - https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...um=64VR1SVASXL

    Listing 2:
    - $223
    - 105w
    - 30 lbs
    - country of origin italy
    - https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...um=64WR1SVASXL

Speed rating, weight, country of origin, and probably their age. They can all play a part in their pricing.
2012 R8 GT, Suzuka with carbon fiber (#298 of 333)
2017 Q7 P+, Ink Blue, Pistachio Beige, Warm, Vision, Bose, Towing (wife's ride)
    2016 SQ5, Sepang, Black Optic, Technology, BBS CH-R Gold 20x10.5 with 295's
-2014 SQ5, Monsoon, Sans pano, totaled by a Xanexed-out broad in a Denali XL

yea, but what I don't understand is why are there 2 versions of the same tire? Is one a 2017 model and one a 2018 model or something?
