    Daytime running lights (leds) problem

    Hello everybody!

This is my first thread and I am very happy to be a part of this huge Audi lovers meeting place.

So let me describe you my problem. I have a A4 B8 allroad 2.0 TDI. Few days ago I got a "right side light/daytime running light" error on my dash panel. I realised that the passenger side led's were not working. I thought that they died for good but after a few hours and few rides leds were back again as nothing happened. They continued to work for few more days. Today, few days later, they stopped working again, and then after a few hours they turned on back again.

Strangest thing that happened was that right after the car start everything worked well and then, after approximately 20 seconds they just turned off, and I got that error message on the dash panel.

Do you have any idea what can be wrong? I mean, I don't want to replace the whole headlight housing because it appears that leds are working, just not for the whole time... I tried to clean and wobble connector socket a bit and they're not loosing contact when I touch it and move a bit...

    Thank you in advance!

    Tomislav.

Obviously all those LED's aren't all bad at the same time. So it's pretty much a wiring issue (either harness to the headlight, plug, or inside the headlight) or the LED module. I might start by swapping the modules (see D below) between the sides. While you're in there, might want to spray some contact cleaner on the plugs in and out of the module itself...and the main headlight plug (A below) for that matter. If the problem moves, it's the module. And you might fix it just by re-seating and cleaning up the plugs.

Thank you very much. Oh, I forgot to mention, my Audi is 2010 model, but all those modules and stuff should probably be the same...
    Thanks!

Did you figure out what went wrong? Was it the module or the connection? I just order another module off a used b8. mine has the same error and i just turned off the drl for now

You could always rule out a faulty ballast by swapping them from one side to the other. That will at least let you know if it's the housing/wiring or ballast.

I just tested , my modules are fine...it's the LED strip that fried. I even tried with an old damage headlight that i kept from a previous hit and run, and the LED turned on with my module. ugh...I could swap the LED strip, but it is a pain...debating on just buying a whole new headlight, or a new set of aftermarket one that look like the B8.5 headlight...
