    Water in Tail Light, Anyone?

Anyone had issues with water in their B8.5 tail lights? Its been raining here in Southern Tennessee for what feels like two months strait, and I am getting a lot of condensation in the driver side body (not trunk) tail light. I am under warranty for only a few more weeks so I am dropping the car off on Monday, but wondered if this was common. I do not recall seeing this in here or on the A4 Forum when I had one.

I've had it in my B8 within 3 months of ownership. Dealer did not want to cover it, so I ended up calling AoA. AoA generously covered the cost.

Curious as to why the Dealer did not want to cover?

I think they don't have to cover it since it isn't covered under power train warranty. Bumper to bumper expires in 30 or 60 days or something in CT I think...

Yes, I have a 2016 that has some water in the drivers side inner tail light. Just tiny little droplets so i'm going to live with it for now.

This is a known problem and I have seen a tsb for it somewhere but when mine happened it was well past warranty. The seal gasket around the light can go bad and or some of the plastic can crack where the seal is. Sometimes I’d have almost no water and others it would be a good half inch deep. Took the light out and let it sit to air dry then used a blow dryer with the light wrapped in a towel to absorb the water and dried the hell out of it till all the water was gone and let it sit over night by an air vent. Sealed it with silicone sealant around the entire housing as I could see where some had dried and cracked off and had a small crack in the plastic in a corner that could barely be seen. 6 months later and not a single drop of water and it was something I just dealt with for almost a year lol. Literally took 20 mins to fix other than letting it sit overnight.

Thanks for the feedback! This sounds like my RX8 all over again.....
Luckily I am still under warranty for only a few more weeks. Hoping the dealer will take it Monday and I can report back on how they handle it.
