I drive my car daily, so i wanted the pads to be quiet, and have good bite when cold. on the flip side, i like to play on the weekends either in the hills or at autocrosses so i need something that will take the heat and NOT fade. fading brakes scare the crap out of me, especially in a heavy car like ours...i'm done with that.
i considered the "classics" for B5's, like Pagid, Porterfield, Mintex, etc. but they were eithe rather pricey or too mild an upgrade from OEM. so after looking around, i had narrowed it down to Carbotech Bobcats, Hawk HP+ (i had them before on my old accord, loved em except for the ridiculous squeeling), and the Ferodo DS2500s. I had to rule the HP's out, and the Bobcats were just too pricey for me despite the great reviews that they got. a friend who tracks his B5 recommended the ferodos, and after reading review after review, and checking the prices i decided they were the best choice for me. i ordered from raceshopper.com, they had very good pricing and service

anyway, to the part you want to know -- i love these pads. they came minus wear sensors (which was fine) and were easy to bed in -- i did about 8 50-10mph HARD stops, and then a cool down. so far, i've been really impressed with the strong cold bite and they only squeel a little once they're hot, between about 10-5mph. i've tried some really hard stops, and i can't get them to fade, even if i try (yeah, its winter, but still...). all in all i'm really happy with them and would definitely recommend them to anyone, especially people who will be seeing alot of track time or autocrossing.
as a side note...i also can't tell you guys how awesome it feels to be able to bomb into corners and not have to think about your brakes, unlike how it always was with the stock pads. its easy to overlook pads because they don't make your engine more powerful or your handling better, but its amazing what a large part they play in the overall driving experience.
sorry for the novel....i suck at short stories
