    2017 Audi S3 Rebuild - Phase : Confusion

    Hello everyone,

So I just recently purchased an S3 Premium Plus with Performance Package, Bang and Olufsen Sound System, and MMI Nav Plus Package.
Fantastic deal I got at auction. Hoping to save 15k or more.
Basically it was involved in a side accident that hit the left-side of the vehicle.

The 2 doors have been crushed (front driver left door and rear passenger left door) I need a new rocker panel, front driver left door's window is broken, 2 side airbags that touch the roof of the car have been deployed, and the sport seat's side airbag deployed, and lastly I need a left side mirror (housing is scratched but still usable, I intend on vinyl wrapping it.)

I need information on these parts. I intend on purchasing these from people who are selling their Pre-Facelift A3's for parts.

    1. Does the pre facelift Audi A3 8V use the same door shell and electrical components as the 2017 facelift? Is the S3 2017 radically different from the 2017 A3, so installing a 2016 A3 door will not work?

    2. I would like to ask the same question as point number 1 but instead of the doors; regarding everything else such as the rocker panel reinforcement and molding, airbags, window, and side view mirror.

    3. Is the Side Airbag of the Sport Seat replaceable or do I have to get a whole brand new seat now? I have not seen any S3 Non-S Sport Seat Package Seats for sale, only typical A3 seats.

    4. There may be a problem with the blind spot monitoring I would assume. Out of curiosity where is the wiring harness for the left side blind spot monitoring located? Where is the sensor as well?

    5. My understanding is the only difference between the 2017 A3 and S3 regarding MY items of concern are the side mirror aluminum caps and side sill/rocker panel molding? Is this correct?

    TL;DR
I got broken parts on my car. Will pre-facelift A3 components be compatible with 2017 S3 facelift model? ONLY the ones I mentioned?
A LOT of controversy from the dealer regarding items mentioned above. Do not know who to believe....

Thanks in advance for the help

I would rather not buy super expensive parts when I can get them from the junkyard instead. Would have appreciated some of the answers to these questions as I am having a problem with the seats now...

Easy button: Look up the part numbers for the parts you need. Then, look up the same part for a pre-FL or A vs. S etc, and compare part numbers. If same, you are good to go. Plan B: Just go junkyard surfing and have a look; its fun. Me and my daughter plan to do that tomorrow for some Lexus parts for my race car lol.

I got most of the parts now. The main issue is that there are no Facelift S3 parts currently available. Therefore some of the parts I was thinking about grabbing, like interior door trim i.e. had different part numbers compared to my S3.
Another problem is part numbers being the same but, module compatibility not being the same.
Wanted to see if anyone had experience with the parts I was looking for and it seems only a handful have...
Wish you luck with parts searching. What kind of car are you building?

Hmmmm. Do not see what the attitude is really. I apologize if it came across wrong. Had a question about a couple items and what people's experience were because part #1 may not fit in car "z" as it does in car "y" despite being the same number because fitment may not be perfect or the connectors may be different or an extra conductor may have been used, etc....
Just consulting others if they had experiences with these specific items. I.E. Learned that you supposedly can not take the airbag out of an A3 as easily as I thought.
Regardless you have any experiences to share, nonetheless?

Yeah, not much parts swapping going on on the FL cars yet. I've got a LS400 for the 24hrs of lemons, with a quite a mash up of Toyota parts to get it to run and drive like I want - Did a motor swap and just finishing that up - almost ready for road trials. I learned that I really hate wiring despite this being my 4th EFI motor swapped car..

How's the rebuild coming along? Currently working on rebuilding a 2015 S3 that had curtain airbags deploy and some other small front end damages (bumper, radiator, intercooler, condenser)
