Is there a public "live" chat for JB4 Audi users? Discord, Whatsapp, etc? I do know of the official forum and these threads. Just curious.

can't speak to warranty... but the CEL is still there, it just autoclears it when it pops up.

How do you get the jb4 to do that?

I believe auto clearing is only available outside of the US. I know the Canada guys have the option but US laws restrict it here

If anybody has experienced this and found any correlation it would be great to know, I'm sure it will be very beneficial to George too. Luckily I don't think it's happened to many, so it definitely isn't something to worry about.
It happened to my car at least three times during the past year. I have ‘19 S5 Coupe with just JB4 and always blend E85 and 91 octane, no other modifications. To be clear, I don’t know if the OBD was disconnected, but the behavior is exactly as you described and always it happened when I start the engine. It throws all possible errors and enters the safe mode. All I do is shut down the car and lock it for 5 minutes or so, then start up and everything is back to normal. I don’t remember if any of the incidents happened before I started blending so cannot comment on correlation.

It can be done with flash tunes yes. I'm sure they bake the feature into it their tunes.

I was just told that's why JB4 doesn't have the option. Maybe I'm wrong but I know non US guys have the option to

Ah, no, this is not the case with mine. JB4 will be in a safety map but it doesn't throw any CELs.

Hey guys so after looking into different tuning options jb4 seems like the best fit for me. The only concern I have left is if IÂ’m going to have to be messing around with the tune a lot or if i can really just plug it in And not worry about it. I understand the basics about tuning but nothing crazy, so donÂ’t want to have run into an issue and not know what to do. Is this a user friendly tune or will I maybe struggle with it a bit. Appreciate any opinions👍

I bought the JB1 for my 2017 A3 lease. Plugged it in following the instructions and got a big boost in power. Made the car go from quick to feeling fast imho, caught a lot of bigger engines off guard.

Followed the instructions to remove whenever I took it into the dealer and they never said a word.

It is straight forward. Don't let it overwhelm you as we are always around to assist with anything needed. As a company we value after sales service.

Shoutout to George for answering a quick dumb random question during install.
I went from bone stock to FMIC, intake, DP and JB4 (started with map 2) and the car still drives like stock, just feels like it weighs about 1000 pounds less lol. In my 45 min ride before/after install on the highway, the only draggy runs that were meaningful to me was a 60 to 90 pull.... this is on the highway in Chicago, couldn’t find slower or faster so that’s that... just for a first impression.
60 to 90 went from 4.03 to 3.40. I had a car full of parts on the 3.4 runs and that was only map 2. Just for fun, I’ll throw in some e85 and put map 5 on.

Map 5 but the times are almost identical on map 3 or 4. The turbo is maxed at sea level and i only get 1 or 2 more degrees timing going up to map 5...same boost bc turbo is at max in mid to upper rpm where you are for a 1/4 mile run

I sent some logs over to George but curious what are some things to keep an eye on? What are the things you look at first in the logs (and what should/shouldn’t they be?)?

Best to let George give you that info but I look at my boost and IAT more than anything.

If you don’t mind sharing a full Draggy quarter mile time so we can see your 60ft and full details that will help too.

Timing- depends on iats and octane but with good iats i saw 12-13 on map 3 and 13-15 on map 5 using 93- 98 octane

Boost - stock turbo tapers to 20psi at redline

Iat - keep below 140f on wot runs

Knock, - if you see over 4 degrees routinely, lower the map or get better fuel

Good stuff, thank you guys. As we start getting in to things like ECU stacking and bigger turbos, it’s good to know what to focus on.
I’ll get some full 1/4 mi logs over the next few days.

Semi random question but would stacking the Jb4 on, say, an APR stage 1 add any flexibility for fuel mixes? If you had a 93 ECU tune, could the JB4 add the ability to run E40 and actually use the benefits of E40?

Back in my BMW days, I ran a Cobb tune stacked with a JB4 and it was a world of difference between running each individually. I liked the logging and easy adjustments via steering wheel with that. Pretty excited to see what stacking offers as map switching won’t be available on day one with APR and the other flashes.

The ECU has a adaption range for timing to a certain point. The JB4 in this case would be used to add boost and balance the fuel trims.

If you do a search over the last three years the EPA has started conducting raids to the extent of getting customer lists etc. This happen with us years back with the CARB guys.
The firmware we do now gets submitted to CARB for certification and soon we should have compliance for these motors.

"For off-road use only," a company I once worked for sold thousands of catless 'test pipes' with this disclaimer. Is that no longer a viable context for sale of an auto-delete feature?
The vast majority of states do not follow the exceedingly strict CARB standards.

No, in the US outside of CA its EPA that controls emission related issues. The off road would require vast amount of documentation per customer. Abroad it will work for some markets.

Hey George pretty much decided on getting the jb4, I know this is probably a stupid question but I’ve seen different answers. The jb4 can’t be seen by the factory scanner right? A bit concerned about throwing a td1.

To date after a few known cars that have been scanned there has been no issues. The ECU works similar to others we have a long track record with and at this point there are no concerns.
Local to me trade ins are scanned and there are no negative reports.

I had a JB1 on my A3. Followed the proper steps to install and remove, no one ever said a word at the dealer. Your mileage may vary.

Just to Echo this point, I had an APR Tune and IC, went through a few warranty claims (none engine related and yes the JB isn't a full tune) on my last Audi and turned the car in and no one said a word as long as your honest. Dealers just want the money and to move inventory.

    hope that helps

I have a folder full of cars that have been TD1 from flash tunes of all types. On certain circumstances the dealer needs to connect the car and scan it and the Factory has the final say. It is out of their hands at that point.
On some models guys have got TD1 from doing non relevant updates even. I know three of our cars to date that have been tested with claims so not concerned.

Hey guys, I'm having some trouble removing the fuel pressure sensor. I can flip the red tab up but no luck in pulling it out. Also having trouble removing the solenoid to connect the BCM. Any tips? Have it on map 2 now and want to start mixing e85.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

If its not coming off there is a little flap at the front of the plug that if lifted it clicks off. No force is required. Both plugs have this.
