AUDI Care / Tire & Wheel Coverage / Care Car Protection

Dealer is trying to convince me that all these are a must with RS ownership. Any thoughts?

    Audi Care Scheduled Maintenance Plan - 20, 30, 40, 50K

Tire & Wheel Premier Protection - Tire & Wheel Plus (60months)

Platinum Plus Rotors - Term Care Select (48months or 50K) - Everything covered, even brakes and rotors once a year.

All these are also transferable to the next owner, which also creates value.

    Thanks

I have Audi care and the Tire & Wheel protection. I find it to be very much required. I was on the fence on the tire and wheel. However, with the recent side wall bubble I had and the ease with which I could replace under warranty was great. Can’t speak to the Rotor warranty however

Audi care yes, tire and rim no as IMO those Pirelli's suck a DD. Personally I wouldn't want a fresh set even if they were free don't trust them one bit. Rotor and pads might be good as you can melt them as some have done after one track day.

The wheel and tire package covers any wheels and tires that are on the car. You just can't go +2 so no 21" wheels.

I bought it, I have Volks on the car and they are $1k each, if I bend one I'll be worth it.

That’s different I guess from in Canada, I was told it was only for the rims and tires that came OEM spec and winter tire/wheel packages that were OEM. If that’s the cause down there that’s a sweet deal.

I was told this as well, and I'm in the US. It's one of the reasons I didn't get it.

I have audi care because i was able to negotiate it down some. But the tire and wheel didn't seem worth it to me unless you crack more than 1 rim.

Yup same thought I had also and information I got just wasn’t worth it for me at least. Honestly not to try and be an ass but I can’t see Audi giving warranty on aftermarket rims or tires out of OEM spec. Some rims are hella expensive and worth way more than OEM rims. Kinda of like buying a Kia and having Porsche parts warranty, maybe bad comparison as Kia isn’t in the VAG family but referring to price of parts. Personally I got my Audi care for free because of Audi loyalty program.

i should say that, in retrospect, i had an incredibly clueless salesman. So i wouldn't be surprised at all if he was wrong about the tire and wheel package. The worst part about this car was the process of actually buying it.

Audi isn't offering the warranty though. All dealers use a 3rd party warranty company to provide it. Same thing with extended warranties.

Edit: here's the PDF clearly stating OEM and Aftermarket wheels and tires

I was quoted 2800 for the Tire and Rim coverage... obscene. If it was 1000 I would have considered it as that's 1 rim.

You may want to check your fine print a little closer. The wheel/tire package will replace an aftermarket wheel, but only with an OEM wheel. Hence why they require it be the same tire specs as OEM.

Talked to a buddy from my home town that works for Audi late last night and yup your right, hell no im good.... Agreed that 1000$ sticker would be decent i guess but i usually don't go OEM for my second set of rims anyways so waste of money in general for me.

Lol i read that in the fine print appendix #1 last night after reviewing the disclosed pic and thought wow someone is going to be pissed in the morning when post it. My friend confirmed this also and the information I originally received from my salesman was 100% correct. Brotherssavage taking the heat like a good brother does Sure thought there was more to the story on why i was so against it...... wifey said "don't you remember when you laughed in the guys face when he told you about it at the dealership and he looked like he wanted a hurt feelings report to file???"

Yeah, waste of money IMO. Mine was about 1600 I think but i went to the top with this to confirm whether or not my aftermarket wheels/tires would be covered. I had them ask the service department directly because they were not being clear and I said I would definitely get it if it also covered aftermarket stuff. I gave them my exact winter setup I planned on at the time and my Sales guy said he probably could get this approved. Came back a week later and said sorry no go. So basically it just includes the OEM stuff, current wheels and if you get the winter package from audi as well ($3,300). Basically all in almost 5k for both, no thanks.

If you want your aftermarket wheels covered, add them to your auto insurance. The finance peeps lie like a mother to get your hard earned coin.

You have a year to decide on Audi Care. I don't really know why people buy if right off the hop unless you have to tie it into your financing or something. It's also a better deal in USA than in Canada. I also agree with lalalaprise the wheel and tire insurance up here also includes a ton of other stuff I didn't want and it was about $2500. Would only cover winter setup if they were purchased from an Audi dealer. Hard pass.

I was quoted 4K for Audi care. And told that you can buy it any time before the original warranty expires however the price goes up. His selling point was I could put it into my monthly payment and extend the payment plan so I wouldn’t feel it. And also that the price would increase. I opted not to buy it at that time.

$4k had to have been more than Audi Care. I think most people are paying about $1k? Up here it's about $1500.

Extended warranty makes even less sense because you can buy that later too, if you plan on keeping the car past original warranty period.

I went in planning to do just the Audi Care. I stuck to that but then after some paperwork the finance guy pushed the tire/wheel thing again and made it sound like these wheels/tires were going to be a nightmare (fair enough that Tulsa's streets are pretty bad) and I bought it like a sucker. He even almost kind of insinuated that I might not want it because I didn't want to spend the money. Now I am really regretting not putting the $2,800 toward a new set of lighter wheels.

I just had one of my winter wheels repaired as it was scraped badly. $125 and it looks flawless. I don’t know who that compares to the cost of the wheel and tire protection as it tuned that part of the sales process out completely. Don’t know if that helps...

I was thinking just like you until I had to replace a tire recently. I didn't know the 7 year third party tire/wheel warranty bought through the dealer covered cosmetic repairs to the wheel as well. I took advantage of that and got my wheel scratches and scrapes fixed as well. A total of $500 for the repairs that I would've paid otherwise. I got back quarter of what I paid for the warranty. At least in NJ where the roads are horrible, I feel it is required.

Wanted to thank everyone who voiced an opinion. Not every plan is the same when it comes to 3rd party coverage, so everyone educated me on the pitfalls on certain plans and the need to read the fine print. Especially when it comes to Wheel/Tire insurance and replacement, depending who its with has a
huge impact if its worthless or a life saver. As anything in life, get all the facts before you lock yourself in.

    Thanks Again,

Hey folks, a bit of advice, for those of you that have the new 8Y RS3 platform please be aware that Audi has changed the DSG maintenance requirements up to 80K miles which I think is absurd. On the previous 8V RS3 it was (I Believe at 40K). I just used my pre-paid 4 year maintenance plan to cover the 30K mile maintenance and I was informed of what what done and what would be require next time but I was told that the next DSG will be due at 80K. I personally will do the DSG at the 40k or 50K but like I said, just be aware.
