My q5 needs new tires soon. It has all season tires and since I’m in tx, I just want summer tires. What are the equivalent of pss for suvs? I have 20” oem wheels. Thanks

Great tires. These are 21s, but I’m sure they make them in 20s. Just check on Tire Rack.
I put Michelin’s on all my vehicles. Best tire out there.

What is the equivalent of Michelin pilot super sports for SUVs?

The true equivalent is Pilot Sport 4S. That is the summer tire that replaced the Super Sport in the lineup. I believe the Latitude is less highly rated on TireRack. I bought a set for my Q5 and they are beyond great.

I ran the Super Sports on mine on 285/35/21. I also ran the Latitude in 265/40-295/35/21. Both are great... the Super Sports are better in the dry, Latitude seemed better in the wet.

Yes the Pilot Sport 4S is the upgrade to the PSS. I’m going to be putting that tire on the R8.

I know that Michelin didn’t make the PSS in my stock 21 size, so I went with the Lat Sport 3’s and bumped the size up for fitment.

Unless you REALLY push your Q/SQ, these are plenty good enough. I have them on my S4.

The Latitude Sport is no where near the Michelin Pilot Super Sports in the realm of performance, a great alternative yes but different class as well. The MPSS is out of production now, the replacement tire is the Michelin Pilot 4S now. I have these on my supercharged 2017 Camaro SS 1LE that is making 650 to the wheels. The tires are flat out awesome and they come in alot more sizes than the Latitude Sport does including a size for the Audi 21" wheel along with the 20" wheel.

I'm running 285/35/21 PSS on mine. Great performing summer tire.

While not the equivalent of PSS, the OEM 20" Summer Package tires on my Q5 have really impressed me. They are Bridgestone Dueler HP Sport 255/45/R20.

With my stage 2 tune at about 420 hp and a tuned ZF8, I can't break them loose even with AMAX (launch control) activated. These are dedicated summer tires, not a/s. They stick, but have very good tread wear. I have about 1/2 of the tread left at 32,000 miles. I expect they will wear faster on the second half, but should get 45,000.

Audi chose wisely. I intend to replace them with the same tire when the time comes.

Are the pilot sport as/3 quiet? How do they compare to the PS4S in noise, if you know.

Make sure you get the Pilot Sport A/S 3+ and not the A/S 3...there's a noticeable difference!

The 3+ are very quiet...no hum or road noise.

Now, the Conti DWS is a very noisy tire indeed!

Tire names, particularly Michelin’s, are confusing. OP asked about summer tires for Texas. That is why the Pilot Sport 4S addresses his query. All season tires are good if that’s your bag.

I thought we were discussing dedicated super sticky summer only tires for 20" OEM rims on a Q5.

I only wanted to say that Audi chose a particular tire for their OEM summer 20" tire package for the Q5, that they chose well, and I was very pleasantly surprised with how it has done both in performance and in tread wear.

Have used CONTI DWS-06 on my last 4 Audi's & never a noise problem. Have 20 " on my 2016 Q5. 245/45/20 to be exact. Great all around tire.

Did you get your answer to your thread-starting question seeking information about dedicated summer 20" tires to fit your Q5?

The thread seems to have been jacked into a discussion about all-season tires, for some reason. At least the post above this has tried to return us to a discussion of summer tires.

Maybe we could all try to stay on theme and help OP? Just a thought.

I think the Latitude Sport 3 is OEM summer for the SQ5 and the Dueler HP Sport is the OEM summer tire for the Q5 on 20" rims. Both have good reputations.

Sorry forgot about this because have been traveling a lot and finally ready for new tires.

So for summer tires (no need for all season) for q5, latitude sport 3 is the answer? Or pilot sport 4s?

I just switched from Latitudes to PS 4S on my SQ5. I’ll report back once they are installed. I’m in Florida.

Yes, although the Bridgestone Dueler HP Sports are not too shabby. They stick well enough to give me 4.3 second 0-60 mph. Cornering forces are probably more limited by stock suspension than the differences in the best summer tires.

Looks like the tread life rating of 4s is way better than latitude sport. I prob go with 4s

Well they put AS 3s for a couple days till they put the proper 4s on. These are great tires. I love summer tires for Texas — no reason for all season. These will be my next tires after pss :)
