BK Motorsports RS style bumper for A7/S7

I know there has been lots of discussions about the quality of aftermarket front bumpers so I wanted to share my experience.

I purchased an RS style front bumper for my S7 a couple weeks ago, from BK Motorsports. I was originally wanted to go with Xenon, but I was able to get a much better deal with BKM and figured what the hey.... lol.

Shipping: Very fast! Came within 5 days of the order. It was packed very well in a large box the size of a coffin. It came truck freight.

First impression: The bumper is very well made and is on par with OEM materials. The grill, brake ducts, and lower spoiler are cheaper quality but nothing too bad at all.

At the paint shop: The bumper came primered but the primer is crap. The bumper needs prep work and to be primed before it hits the paint booth. My paint shop said it looked rattle canned. Lol. After the cleanup and being reprimed it looked very nice. All aftermarket bumpers show waves in the material no matter what company you use other than OEM. I will say, it is not very noticeable with BKM. I also had them color match the ducts and lower spoiler, for a blacked out look.

Install: Overall the install went rather smoothly. My only obstacle was the front camera. Had to cut the grill and the camera bracket to make it work. I knew this going in because these bumpers aren’t made for the camera. The grill was Chinese quality and the emblem holder didn’t fit the best. Had to use some glue to make it tight. I also had to trim some of the holder for my nightvision camera but that was very simple. Everything else went very well and without issue.

Fit: The bumper fit pretty well. The fenders are a tad bit off but you really have to look to tell. I’m sure if I had my body shop install it, they could have gotten everything near perfect. The only surprise with putting everything back together was the inner fender liners. The RS bumper is wider at the front fenders and the stock fender liners can’t directly attach to the bumper. BK adds a plastic piece on each side but I did not like the way it looked so I took them off. I am going to order an oem liner to see if that works.

Overall: I am happy with the finished product and overall I am happy with the bumper. Would I buy another? Yes. Absolutely. I came in this knowing it was aftermarket and knew this wouldn’t be perfect. My expectations were lower than the actual finished product. Without a doubt, BK Motorsports, has a great price for a good product. You save thousands over OEM, and it takes someone in the industry, and up close, to even begin to tell its aftermarket.

Hope this helps! Sorry for any errors and or spelling. This was a lot to write on my phone. Lol

Saw that BKM now sells the RS grill separately - good to note the quality is OK although not as good as OEM (not a surprise)

Revive this old thread with my experience.

I ordered a RS front bumper a couple months ago and took it to be installed this week, so outside of any type of return period. My front bumper cover was broken when I purchase the car but nothing major, in fact, it took me a couple months to notice the extent of the damage.

After taking it in and waiting a couple days the shop called me back and said they didn't even want to paint it because was so bad, the edge that mates with the fender looks like it was trimmed with a razor blade and is all wavy, the outside edge next to the headlight (both sides) looks like it was cracked and some sort of poor repair attempted, a random piece of tape on the outside that was primed over, and poor quality primer that needs sanded off from what I can remember. They are tacking on a couple extra hours of prep work to try and fix this stuff as much as possible so hopefully it works out.

Summary: would not buy again, would not recommend. At this point, not willing to eat the $1k for this part and start looking for something else.
