Euro convex mirrors so much better for field of vision versus planar US spec mirrors.

One of best and useful mods imo. Issue is finding them reasonably priced with heat and dimming oem. Takes very little time to install.

I got them in classifieds here. The a7 fit the s7. You can find them on eBay too. The passenger side shows up on eBay but for some reason I could NEVER find the driver side one on eBay after 1 year of searching on and off.

I replaced the driver’s side glass on my car with the OEM passenger side convex glass for a right-hand drive car.

As OP says very easy to change.

Is there a legal reason why factory cars in the US aren't equipped with them or other?

You sold me with that. I might just be getting lazy, but I feel like other manufacturers’ side assist light is much better than Audi’s. Based on the reviews, certainly seems worth trying these mirrors.

Assuming I get my hands on a set, how do you remove the stock mirror? Just pry it out?

yes you rotate mirror glass so you can grab it and pull it out. very easy to see on youtube. just search audi side mirror glass removal.

If you are worried about breaking mirror, get yourself a $3 suction tool from Harbor Freight. This will allow you to pull from center, once you have rotated mirror to edge. I believe mirror is held on by two squeeze clips. One minute tops to remove.

There are convex and also aspherical. In North America we generally get a flat driver's mirror and a convex passenger's mirror from the factory.

The convex mirror glasses will distort the reflection across the whole glass, though it's not a huge distortion.

The aspherical is flat for the inner 75% and then convex for the 25% outer edge. This provides a non-distorted reflection for the bulk of the mirror glass and then the outer edge gives you that added coverage for the blind spot. Best of both worlds.

You can see the line in the aspherical glass above where the glass goes from flat to convex on the edge.

Pricing is purely based on what Audi set pricing at in Europe, since aspherical glasses are Rest of World only. Audi wants $600 for one passenger's North American spec dimming convex mirror and those out of Europe are around 1/3 less than aspherical auto-dimming.

The dimming component is what drives the price with Audi, otherwise asperhicals are only $200 a pair without dimming.

Yea, I got lucky when I bought my carbon mirrors I got a smoking deal for 2k aspherical glass heated and auto dimming, carbon housings, and the bases.

My wife didn't think it was such a great deal :-)
I think I told her I paid 500. ba ha ha ha!

Sure, I got them here. The seller had 2 pairs, but he seems to have sold them both. I get the impression their business is selling pulled mirrors, so I'm sure they'll have more. May be worth sending an email! :)

Lucky for me, your wrong part number is the correct one for me, I have an S6.. Phew... So it seems that 4G0857535E and 4G0857536E is for an A6/S6/RS6 and 4G8857535E and 4G8857536E is for the A7/S7/RS7...

I got the left side coming in now, looking forward to getting them on..

Got my set the other day from the seller on eBay. They came pretty quick but the tabs that clip into the auto dimming power plug was missing and they didn't want to lock in place. A little dab of adhesive where the broken tab was seemed to lock it in place.
Have to say I love the added visibility.

Agreed, I liked it so much I ended up getting them for my Golf and TT as well... For me, I had to get used to it at first as my eyes have been trained for a couple decades with the way the North American OEM glass is..

Using my S6 with the new glass and then jumping into my other rides with the North American OEM glass was bothering me so I had to get the Euro mirrors for them too.. Too bad I can't get them for my Camaro..

It's still taking me time to adapt. I ordered knock-off ones for my C5 allroad too.

Think I'm gonna have to do this for all german cars from here on now.

I think the law changed about 5+ years ago for the US. Before, only flat mirrors could be placed. Now you see cars with those inset mirrors etc. Prob people so used to flat planar mirrors that if they were suddenly changed to this, people would all crash and hit things.

They're like having a Broadway mirror on each side. It did take some getting used to, but i still like them better than NA OEM.
