    Resonator Delte

I did mine over the weekend. I have water condensation leaking at start up. I screwed up on the install by not cutting the pipe clean. It left about a little over 1/8 of an inch off in an angle. I tightened the clamp as much as I can and still water leaks. But I guess it's normal for water leaks around the clamps.

As far as the sound, it definitely increases the growl. At first since I got used to the quietness of our S3, but after the install was not sure if I liked the deep tone increase. But now, I'm loving it. Definitely sounds better than stock. No drones at all and you can hardly hear it on the freeway not unless you punch it. At low RPM's you definitely hear the deep tone. I think our cars should sound like this from the lot.

Did it..cheap mod and much better sound. Not too loud as long as you don't get an aftermarket down pipe..

I did a muffler delete on mine and i love it, i think it would sound louder than a res delete but not too crazy, my A4 is straight piped and it’s pretty loud. The A3 has a great tone tho and you can hear the shifts really well.

Thats what I did on my bug and it sounded great. Res delete doesn't do too much, still sounds like crap but saves a couple pounds. I should have gone muffler delete.

If you go aftermarket downpipe or plan on it - I would leave your resonator. Otherwise, expect major drone and rasp.

Did an OEM res delete on my S3 and I thought it was really nice. When I added a DP it got a little raspy, but still not terrible. There is some drone, but again it's not too bad IMO. FWIW I don't think any MQB car sounds great with any exhaust setup, they're going to be raspy sounding compared to other VAG 2.0Ts.

My S3 already had it when I picked it up. It sounds great - better than my partner's S4 too. So, yeah I like it :)

I did a resonator delete and wasn't happy. It was too quiet, very close to stock. Ended up getting the exhaust removed the same day. Sounds a lot better, DSG is noticeable, however it's kinda droney.

Just get a pipe welded at an exhaust shop IMHO no need to pay for that 200$. Any type of resonator delete will cause drone around 3000 rpm. It sounds good but nowadays I'm considering a downpipe and install the resonator back.

I had Castillo’s exhaust shop weld a 3in pipe from my downpipe into my stock muffler for $102. Works great and I wouldn’t consider much(yes still some) drone to be happening.

I have a catless Downpipe as well with my setup. I was mainly looking for that touch of extra flow and sound but keep the stock muffler so I seem OEM all around.

Like it a lot on my S3. No drone. No leaks at the clamp - gotta get a straight cut, man! And the extra cost for OEM is worth it to avoid any warranty hassles with the dealer.

Did this today, and so far I'm loving it! Local audi/vw tuner shop quoted me $360 for the part and 1.5 hour install. Thought that was outrageous so I bought the ECS tuning's delete for $123, rented a lift for $35 dollars, and got this done in ~30 min. The shop even supplied me all the necessary tools including the pipe cutter free of charge.

    Things I notice:

It's much louder around the power band and is peak volume between 3-4k.
I can cruise the highway and it's still quiet.
    DSG Farts much louder
Driving the car is a more visceral experience.

Also I should note I have the exhaust flaps set to always open via OBDeleven.

I was really thinking of doing this. Then I thought I wouldn't want to cut the pipe, so I went for a downpipe and I do not feel any difference in sound.

Any insight on how a 1.8 t sounds w resonator delete? Supposedly it's a different kit than the 2.0t
