    Quietest Brake Pad

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Age old question, I know, but I'm looking to get a feel from my fellow S4 owners.

I currently have drilled rotors and ceramic pads and as of late, my pads have become extremely noisy, at almost every stop. I checked the life and even applied brake quiet compound to the backing... to no avail.

So now I'm in the market for the quietest brake pad for our B8's. Organic or semi-metallic? Or, is there a super quiet ceramic available? Let me know!

I have stoptech street pads on ecs slotted rotors and I get squeaking but not all the time. Its on and off and not super loud when it happens. Ive been pretty happy with the stopping power and can deal with occasional squeaks. Its not like loud squealing. Just a little eek eek here and there

Akebono ceramics are probably the quietest pad available.

Installed akebono's 21,000 miles ago and haven't heard a squeak since. No issues at all

Akebonos area great street pad. super quiet, nearly dust free, and still have more than enough stopping power for a street car. I personally like that they are not as snatchy as the stock pads, and have a more linear stopping response.

I also have this setup and would attest to the same experience. Though I do wish the StopTechs had an initial bite like OEM.

I concur, though plenty people complain about the loss of initial bite.

I have the Akebonos on my '15. They were installed by the PO so I have no experience with stock pads. I am pleased with their initial bite (decent but not too much), stopping power (more than adequate for brisk street driving), dust (minimal), and noise (none). I'm surprised because in general I hate ceramic pads, having had repeated bad experiences, but the Akebonos have been a pleasant exception.

yeah my OEMs squeaked like crazy. Was always a bit embarrassing in parking ramps and such.

akebonos haven't squeaked once so far. i'm one of the ones who misses the initial bite a bit, now i have to stay a tiny bit further back behind cars. it's rather minor and otherwise stops just fine.

i dont miss the brake dust though!

I had Akebonos on my A6 and liked them. I felt liked they stopped just fine, it just took getting used to. No noise and very little dust, which was awesome.

I have Carbotech 1521's with ECS two piece rotors in the front and ECS drilled slotted rotors in the rear. No noise at all. The pads have an almost OEM like initial bite and much less dust than OEM, but do dust more than Akebonos.
You can look into G-LOC GS-1's as well which are essentially the same product as the Carbotechs. Not sure which one is cheaper.

Stoptech Sport pads on zimmerman drilled. No squeaking after having had lots when stock. Excellent stopping power. Better dust than stock. Clips to keep them still unlike other non-stock brands. 9/10. Had HPS 5.0 and didn’t like them at all.

OP if you are still looking for the new pads, I'm selling the Stoptech Street front pads. No noise at all.

Quick update, I ended up going with the Akebonos... quiet as a mouse. I did lose that initial bite, but the stopping power is still there. Thanks all for the input!!
