2012 A6 (3.0T) transmission

I learned that the A6 (3.0T) has a dual-clutch transmission. I thought they had a ZF8? Is there a certain year when Audi changed it?

North American A6/A7 3.0T cars only have the 8 speed ZF trans. The rest of the world 3.0T C7 A6/A7 cars did get the real DSG dual clutch 7 speed.

Thanks Chris. I'm still confused about something. A guy in Canada is having Mechatronic Unit problems, but you mentioned North America got the ZF8. Does the ZF8 also have a Mechatronic Unit? See below:

Not sure if it was a misundertsanding about the term or not. But no North American C7 3.0T A6/A7 cars got the 7 speed dual clutch trans.

Thanks for clarifying. I have a B8 S4 with DSG. I'm worried about a future Mechatronic/Transmission failure. I'm looking to buy an A6 (3.0T) because it's the same Engine, but a different transmission.
