    Common B8.5 issues

    Hello, I have a 2013 B8.5 Quattro at 80k miles, I want to know what are common issues with this car that I should get taken care of now rather than later.
    Plus, I think this would be an informative thread for new b8.5 quattro owners.

    i was also like you when i first started posting in this forum. then i found out about the search function.
    8.5 has been out since 2013 so almost 6 years ago. lots of archived info thats been discussed for half a decade.

    There aren’t any common B8.5 issues. Except for broken visor clips.

    I have a 2013 B8.5 and its @ 86K miles right now with APR stage 1. I purchased it CPO @ 10K miles in June 2015. Besides regular maintenance and recalls I have had zero problems as of last week. Two days ago I was told I have water pump leak and it will cost me $1100 but I got that fixed under warranty for $85.

    Did Spark Plugs & Drive belt (Ribbed V belt) @ 75K - Recommended by Audi Maintenance Schedule

    flux capacitor is the most common issue and needs replacing @ 50k miles

    Fuel pump went bad on my 2011 B8 even though mine is not an 8.5, I’d still look out for the issue. Audi wanted $2,000 to replace it but my mechanic did it for $1,000

    Ok ok - to be more serious - check the engine build date. Its on a white sticker on the timing cover - easy to see when you open the hood. If the date is within 2012 then you might want to consider the checking timing chain tensioner (there is a way to inspect it) or another round about way is to look into the timing chain lawsuit and see if your VIN is covered.

    It was an OEM pump and he also installed an injen intake but the total was about $1,290

    I have a 2013 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro B8.5 with 66k miles and my valve cover was leaking oil, the shop said it was common in the engines. Got it resealed. It doesn't use a normal gasket though, it uses some type of silicone which is now green, from the manufacturer it was red, not sure if chemical composition is different now. Cost me $1,100 though

    $1100 for sealant ? what's it made from ? Unicorn Sperm ?

    It depends, some B8.5 was still equipped with ea888 Gen 2 2.0T
    Although the timing tensioner, diverter and the VW dodgy Piston ring had been addressed in the B8.5 but the PVC
    doesn’t last and known to fail.

    Not certain of the ones with ea888 Gen 3 2.0T version from 2013/2014 -2016.

    There also has been complaints of minor cabin rattles as well.

    lmao the sealant wasnt $1100, it was the labor that was the majority of the price. I wouldn't try it myself I rather let the experts do it

    Please help: So while I was putting everything back together during my grille install, I noticed that there is a piece chipped off of my subframe where my control arm bolts In. Looks like I have to replace my subframe which I’m not too thrilled about. Has this happened to anyone on their B8 S4/A4? How much is the labor supposed to be? My mechanic is charging me $600 for labor. (Taking it to my mechanic not Audi Dealer) Attachment 90147Attachment 90148

    Sun visor clips are 13 dollars on Amazon. Buy two if you want an exact match. If not you really cant tell the difference.

    My 2015 audi a4 b8.5 tdi with 165400 km needed a new water pump a few weeks ago, as the old one started to leak badly (the o-ring wad deteriorated and out of place), i took the oportunity to also change the timing belt.

    Service manual says to change it every 180.000km or 4 years, so i guess it was in due time

    Total cost of the replacement water pump+timing belt 350€

    You must have a different engine in your 8.5. In North America the b8.5 and b8 are tfsi motors with timing chains. Belt is only fsi engine and earlier.

    Edit: just noticed the TDI. we dont have that over in NA i dont think
