Parking brake ebrake light flashing on dash, also brake wear light on

Last few problems to deal with. Got a flashing e-brake parking brake. I also have a brake wear light on when pressing the check button. I tried the 'permenant" fix by temporarily grounding the wire but it didn't work for me and handbrake light would still flash. Is there anything that could be related to? My brake pedal pressure is squishy but I have bled the brake properly yet.

Originally when I got the car the e-brake cables were detached and did not see a dash light for it. What am I missing? Tested brake pads and they're still good my issue is somewhere in the dash for the actually problem where the sensor wiring is open somewhere. The only thing actually bugging me is the flashing e-brake light but I do want get rid of the brake wear light as well

Isn't a flashing ebrake light a sign for low brake fluid?

On other cars it is, not sure if it's the same for a B6. Maybe your brake fluid is just low.

Low brake fluid (meaning you have a leak). If you want to delete the pad warning for good, ground it out inside the cabin. It will always work. I’ve done it a few times, takes about 5 min.

brake fluid level is good I've wacked it with a light shinning from top and it's higher than min, topped it once at full as well but still has wear light. Also to note the break wear is only on when I press the check button which cycles through the system. Pressing the check button it also show low fuel even though it is a bit less than half full

Also like I originally said when I got the car the parking brake cables were detached and I didn't see cluster red circle with the exclamation mark flash until I reconnected both cables. Are there any diagnostic checks I can go through? I've never seen brake fluid leak. But the car originally did have dot4 audi brake fluid in the hatch, so there could be an issue with that. Or maybe the original owner tried to do that and it didn't fix it, so they left the parking brake cables off which fixed the flashing ebrake light?

Not sure how reattaching the brake cables can cause an indicator.

When is the indicator flashing? All the time? When the parking brake is set? Or when it's released?

There are a couple things that will cause the light to flash and an audible beep. Either the brake fluid level is low, the fluid level sensor is bad, the e-brake is engaged, the e-brake sensor is bad (turns the light on), or the sensor thinks it's engaged. Given that the cables were gone, if start with the handle sensor.

The flashing brake light is always on into accessory & car running. It was just on when I was driving it around. It did momentarily stop when I came to a stop, then I pulled the handbrake and it was solid. I disengaged the handbrake and the light went away, and seconds came back flashing again. So I guess this proves the handbrake is still working. I don't have any audible beeps (I've read it could be disabled, or speaker in the cluster is gone). The flashing handbrake light is on whether the handbrake lever is pulled or down. I'm thinking it's the fluid level sensor going wonky, so I'll test that first, thoughts?

Jerked the steering a bit while safely driving with no one around and the flashing ebrake went away for a minute. So I assume it would be the fluid reservoir? Or the fluid level sensor? That's why I have a parts car. Is it easier to swap the fluid level sensor or the whole reservoir? I'll google it. I really need the Bentley manual as I've heard the haynes is not useful.

    Sensor, by far.

But you'll have to do it by feel.

Unplug the harness, and then there's a little nub that sticks out of a hole on the bottom of the reservoir. That's the only thing locking it in place.

Getting to that with the reservoir installed might be a pain, though. I've only ever done it with the reservoir out of the car.

fixed, end thread, was the brake fluid reservoir sensor. Removed it without removing the whole reservoir. It's a good feeling seeing no dash lights, except for day time running lights - canada :(
