My exhaust fell off the car on highway yesterday!!

Hello EveryBody!!!

So yesterday on 691, my exhaust feel off, split in the middle where it connects to the flex joint, supposedly rotted away and that is that. I felt like such an ass driving down the highway dragging that POS. Brought me back to my High school honda days

1. Does anyone have a stock exhaust they can sell cheap?
2. Has this happened to anyone else? The car doesnt have any rust that I can see so im worried what else is gonna rot off.

I guess I will be looking for an A6 a bit more seriously now.

Just buy a replacement flex and have shop weld it in. About $35 for a good flex.

Just buy a Techtonics Tuning downpipe. 260 bucks and an hour of your time and they make one for 6MT and automatic.

I’m on my 3rd set of flex pipes on my wife’s B5 V6. New flex pipes welded on to rusty down pipes don’t tend to last very long.

the exhasut was damaged from being dragged so I no longer have the entire rear section, its just dumps to atmosphere under the car.

sorry but I just had to laugh ... didn't you notice the exhaust leak noise from the flex long before it fell off ???

I put a new bosal down pipe on , about 75 bucks or something .. fixed it up great , now the resonator or mufflers at the back are grumbling ,,, it never ends ...

I'm not sure , I just went on line and found the cheapest place , had it shipped to my Niagara falls address , popped over and picked it up . Oh hang on my log book is here. Il check .

I got it from Hugh At Europa parts, I got that , the cat gasket and a new clamp for the back

trick is just undo the o2 sensors and drop the cat and downpipe together , then grind off the bolts in your driveway. just need patience and a few universals to get the awkward bolt on the turbo , its one of those one click at a time Nuts

mine was tricky because PO had welded where the sleeve clamp was supposed to go so I had to make a " new " location for it. But it all worked out, till the next piece rusted out .. at least my son has to fix it now.

Yup, I did, it got a bit louder after driving thru a puddle, I had an appt tomorrow to do Oil change and check it out. Missed it by that much.

I got a new Bosal mid pipe where the flex is for my tiptronic, got it cheap as i'm a parts tech at a shop but god damn were the welds low quality, and the flange to bolt to the cat was just terrible to get in place, but it worked.
