Sepang Blue S4 Progression & Build Thread

After searching for the perfect spec S4 for about 8 months I'm happy to finally have found the perfect car. I sold my B8.5 A4 about 8 months ago realizing I had settled for an A4 when in reality I wanted an S4 the entire time. I picked up an Cheap daily driver MK4 Jetta and was set on finding a Sepang Blue Pear 15/16 model year Premium Plus car with Sport Diff, B&O Sound, Black Optics, Carbon Atlas Inlays and Full Napa Leather option. I was willing to bend on the car being a manual and I knew the search would be long. After purchasing my last Audi out of state and having it shipped up from California, I knew I didn't want to search that far out with the way my experience went.

I would check listings just about once a day. Sepang cars were coming up but they would always be missing one or two things. Either with the panda interior or magma or missing the black optic feature. I came to the point where I was ready to settle again on a different color, when one morning two weeks ago I did a random search on autotrader and found what looked to be the perfect spec. The seller was in Beaverton which was just a short drive down I5. I emailed him we spoke a bit about the car he sent me all sorts of photos and he was the original owner which could not have been better. The car has Audi care up to the 45k service and all previous services have been performed at Audi of beaverton.

Long story short I made sure the loan was good to go with my bank I drove down early Saturday morning met with the owner drove the car everything was just as described. The interior smelled just like new and the car was taken care of like non I had seen before. Signed some papers and brought her home. Could not be happier with the purchase.

I have some plans for the car as it sits now it is bone stock. I don't plan on going crazy at all I love the OEM+ look on all of my cars. Small drop and some new wheels I cant stand the daisy ones that come with the black optic cars in 15/16. I will be posting all the updates in this thread.

Couldnt agree with you more about the 15/16 black optic "daisy" style wheel. I picked up a 2015 black optics trim and had the dealer pull the "daisy" wheels off to replace w my stock 19" peelers off my 2012 trade in....to be fair tho i have a set of the "rotor" style BO trim wheels for my summer setup

While I have peelers on my Sepang Blue, I'm not sure I like them that much better than the Black Optics style he has.

I have thought about refinishing mine from silver to gunmetal/anthracite, though. I just want something darker, which is why I think the black optics style looks OK to me.

(When I bought the car, one wheel had some curb rash, and a shop had scratched up the wheel barrels removing old wheel weights.)

Congrats again on the pick up! Best of all worlds in terms of colors, miles, options.

Good luck not spending thousands on mods right out of the gate.

Thank you! Peelers or rotors but I would like either to be in S5 fitment.

The daisy wheels do not look half bad in person actually they look alot worse in photos. When I saw them in person I was pleasantly surprised. I still must replace them

I may keep them and find a use for them. The tires on the car now are relatively new maybe have about 5k miles on them.

Thanks again James! I am really happy I waited it was well worth it.

I already have some parts on the way from the mother land but I am trying my best not too go too crazy right off the bat.

No, I have a set of euro sun visors. OEM+ I really like the clean look of them.

Headlights will be next I think.

Is there enough time to add a second set of sun visors

Lights are great but I can’t justify the cost. The orange is not nearly as prominent on the b8.5 as it is on b8 so I’m not too irritated by it for now.

Mine shipped out on Friday. Once they show up and they check out I can help you order a set no problem. I found them on Ebay.de.

I feel the same but the ecodes look so clean. I had a set on my A4 but I got them for an absolute steal $400 shipped to my door. I will let you know if I find another deal for us.

    Philips LED Fog-Lights

My Philips LED fog lights came in yesterday. These are the highest quality LED bulbs I have seen personally. The price reflects that but they are well worth it. I ran the same one's on my previous A4 and they matched the LED strip pretty well, I would say just about a shade off. Most important thing though it gets rid of the halogen yellow OEM bulbs and they do not give out a bulb out warning. I will have some photos of installing them and how they match up in the next few days.

Curious to see the output. While installing my RS4 grill, I took the opportunity to pop in some hyper yellow PIAA bulbs. The hue is great but I definitely wish they were brighter.

I’ve been running them in my b8 for a year now and they really are great. Great light output, no melted housing and best of all with a little tweaking in Vagcom the drl intensity can be turned up to almost match the led output

Congrats...great color! Welcome to the Sepang family!

May I ask how much you got it for? Feel free to PM. I’m asking because mine is very similar and may be selling it in the spring. Just trying to get idea of current value. Thx!

Output is great, very bright. Only thing like I said maybe a shade on the blue side but you will be hard pressed to find a closer match. I will have some photos up.

    Thank's alot!

No problem. I paid $34k for the car! It seemed like a very reasonable price to me for a car in a spec that I precisely waited and looked for. Was it a steal? No, but being sepang, one owner and VERY clean as well as local I was happy to pay for the right car.

That is exactly how I plan on matching them up. I will turn the DRL's up to about 60-70% like I did on my A4 and it looks great.

My new plates came in I decided to go with the LEM (Law Enforcement Memorial) Design. It is a good cause to support and they look really clean! Added some stainless allen head screws and a BBI autosport frame.

It's pretty ironic that you went through the exact same thing I did, I am just down the street from you in Redmond Ridge and bought mine about 6mos ago. Similar story, been looking for 2 years and never found one for the price I wanted to pay with mileage/condition/options. We have the exact same car except mine came with lane departure and alum trim. I've since replaced the trim with custom blue carbon fiber, which was going to happen anyways so I didn't fret much about the carbon atlas options.

I'm interested in the Euro sun shades, what are these exactly?

Also, if your in for doing lowering (just a tad for me) perhaps we can either rent a lift in Kirkland and do it together or get a deal at a shop to do both at once.

Congrats on the ride, best color on any car IMO

What a coincidence. That is so awesome, I am actually up in the Redmond Ridge area a lot. Out towards Duvall has some amazing driving roads. It was a pain I can tell you that much and I'm sure you know just how hard it is. Did you purchase yours locally or out of state? By the lane departure do you mean the blind spot monitoring system? Because as far as I know our car's did not come with the lane departure warning which vibrates the steering wheel. My car does have the blind spot warning however. I would love to see the blue carbon trim, who did it for you?

The Euro sun shade visors are regular looking sun visors but without all the air bag warning stickers tacked all over the. It really cleans up the look especially with the black headliner the stickers stand out more than the grey headliner. Coincidentally with the stickers not being there they are able to attach a strap or clip to hold paperwork and things. Novelty item to some but I love the little details we didn't get here. Those should be here soon they have landed state side last I checked they're in Chicago. I will have some photos up soon.

That definitely sounds enticing. I would be interested in either. I do want a slight drop as well. Maybe we can see if Achtuning would offer a labor discount for two cars. Which method were you looking at in terms of lowering?

Thank's alot. Congrats to you as well! The color is absolutely one of the best blue's Audi has had. I plan on keeping this one for a while.

Philips LED Fog-Lights, DeAuto LED Interior Lights & DeAuto LED Reverse Lights

Finally got to installing the fog lights along with all my other LED bulbs. Interior, rear reverse lights and the front turn signals. All lights are now LED.

I started off with the fog lights. Like I said these are quality pieces.

I got to the fogs by removing the lower grills. This is most definitely the easiest way. Just take a 4mm allen key put it through the hole in the top left corner and pull straight out.

I found a bunch of leaves and random debris back there. So vacuumed that all out and cleaned the area up

Interior LEDs along with reverse and turn signal units.

Here is the end result. I tried to capture the fogs as best I could they're just about spot on. The reverse LEDs will help when I get my windows tinted and the interior LEDs are a perfect shade and compliment the ambient OEM LEDs found in the footwell area.

I have the exact same car with a panda interior. I was also very anti-daisy wheels and wanted to switch out for rotors, but honestly they really grew on me over time and they do look much better in person than in the pics. Plus since it's the only year that used them they also have a modicum of exclusivity. Just my $.02, ymmv

I will have to start shopping.

Did a small thing today. I always noticed how cheap the small plug that covers the 12v port in the ashtray area was. It did not match the rest of the car in my opinion. My OCD obviously kicked in and I remembered seeing the piece the new B9's came with. I went ahead and grabbed it and it fits right in.

    Previous cheap looking piece.

    New much nicer B9 piece

Following. As I have a similar car (2014 Nogaro Blue) that I picked up like a month ago. Looking to see what kinda goodies I can add to the car. Not sure if I want to go down that dark road of going all out. As for now I’m enjoying the car (and learning how to drive it since this is my first manual car).

However Grats on the awesome car. I look forward to see what you do next. :)

That is awesome and congrats on the new car. Nogaro is my all time favorite blue Audi has! I would have went with nogaro but I could not get over the nogaro interior the cars came with. It screams subaru STI to me. I hope I can give you some ideas thank you for following along.

Thank you I appreciate that. Likewise can't wait to see what you do with the nogaro.

I picked mine up from Amazon. With prime I was able to receive them same day as ordered. They're the second cheapest place where you can get them. I initially found them on tire rack for about 20 bucks cheaper and placed my order there. They called me back later that day saying they didn't have an ETA on when they would ship since they didn't have them on hand, they were a special order item. I proceeded to cancel my order. If you can wait or dont mind waiting tire rack is not a bad place to order with.
