    RS3 anti-lag in manual mode?!

    Hi guys,

Some of you might have seen kory Nunn on youtube, he is a fellow RS3 owner/enthusiast, he made a video yesterday about the sound of the rs3. In that video he shows that, when in manual mode, during a downshift if you apply the throttle you get some kind of anti-lag akin to the launch control; as soon as the shift is done you accelerate with instant boost. I tried it this morning... it works 100% and it does make a difference haha! I don't know if this ''Feature'' is there because of gearbox revving protection or wanted by audi, but it is fun to play with.

Sorry if this is a repost as I've not heard about this thing before from this forum.

    Link?

When I am in M mode, an at about 4k rpm, its ready for instant action.

NM, found it, God, cant stand all the wasted time listening to nothing. Video could have done justice in under two minutes.

I have seen his videos before, he is always, bitching, whining, complaining about his car. His reviews are mostly negative and he even wanted to sell his car. One of his videos was about whining because a part took a few weeks to arrive.

It does this in auto, too.

If I'm moving at highway speeds (~70ish), in Dynamic and trans in sport, if I punch the throttle past the kick-down, it has a split second of hesitation while it revs and builds boost before it takes off.

Happens every single time. Foot to the floor, BRAAAAP, *gone*. My wife's MK7.5 Golf R does the same thing.

Are you sure it is 7.5R only? We had the second step petal to the metal action, with the short rev and go in my 15 and 17R. But, I have to try this again and see if it is obviously different.

    RS3 anti-lag in manual mode?!

Interesting. Rolling Boost: Would that be considered the same as brake boosting? What’s the steps? Is it.. 1: at 3k rpm downshift—->2. Wot? I need to try that!!! Has anyone replicated the backfire sound with brake tap on downshifts?

For the rolling boost its exactly as you describe, your in 4 at 3000rpm —-> downshift to 3/ WOT at the same time as you hit the paddle = enjoy the result. the brake tap on downshift does not change much, it does a bit more but nothing compared to sport auto downshift (sound wise)

Wot the ‘same’ time as down paddle? Or downshift then wot? Anyhow. Don’t have my car for a few days. It’s back at AWE Tuning!

Sorry downshift first then wot, but barely 0.1 sec between both if you want more boost haha. its a fun gimmick to play with on the road!

This has nothing to do with anti lag, but rather how the DSG trans works.

This post explains what's going on and how to drive the DSG for better performance: https://forums.vwvortex.com/showthre...ips-and-Tricks.
Unbeknowst to Speed, Racer-X is actually his older brother who ran away from home years ago...
