They don't normally lease well. For example, the MF for an S5 is roughly .00173 to .00194 depending on lease term and location. RV is around 57 percent, though, so decent.

Its probably better to buy over lease. Expect a lease of around 1300 to 1500 a month or more.

Find out the residual value and the money factor before agreeing to anything. What's the term length?

Can you get a deal with only covering drive offs? Is it possible to get a $0 down?

It's up to you to put money down on a lease if you want the RS5 bad enough, but personally I always advise against it because God forbid you get into an accident and total the car, you just lost 8k.

That money goes strictly to paying depreciation to keep the payments down and doesn't do anything for equity.

That's just my .02 cents, though. I'm sure other people have varying opinions of it.

    Rs5 lease

Money out of pocket was for tax’s , fees , 1 payment. They are being secretive. They tell me car is in big demand. 2019 is coming. Cars are 18. Sales are really slow on this car. You do a dealer search the center of the country is loaded with them. They think they have gold . I’m not hard up. If they don’t want to cut a deal. I just hold my s5. Lease up. I’m done. Go back into M4. Or screw theses high priced. Get a mustang gt.

I think you can get what you want, you just need to expand your search and take your time. Wouldn't be surprised if took 4 months to get the right car for the right price. Start reaching out to several dealers as far as you're willing to go/get delivered.

Something will open up for you.

I'd avoid that dealer at all costs. But that's just me.

I tried to lease a rs5, the money they wanted was insane! They quoted me at like over $1500 a month. The price on the car was 100,000$. I ended up going with a fully loaded 2018 s5 sportback white exterior red interior for 650$ a month 0 down. Taxes and fees up front. I couldnt let that go

Good deal. I’m paying more then that for my s5. Car not worth the money. I think I’m done with Audi when the lease is up.

It’s not worth the price a month I pay. Maybe my dealer is a crook. It’s got no driving experience at all. Car is also on the big side.

Yeah I’ve been look at getting a RS 5 when my S5 lease is up but the numbers are stupid. It might actually be better to finance it but I don’t really want to own something like a RS 5 outside of the warranty.

Even if you financed it, you wouldnt have to own it out of warranty and you would certainly be getting a better deal than these lease terms haha.

Well, if I finance the whole thing over 4 years it would come out costing more as I'm paying for the whole car instead of 52% of it like on a lease. If I finance it over more than 4 years the I'll have to pay off the car if I get rid of it after 4 years.

The exception is when you finance you're paying into possible equity. When you lease for that 52%, you're just paying depreciation and rental charges.

It makes more sense to finance.

Yes and No. Just depends on how much you put down and how long you finance it for. Regardless though you will have something to trade in after 4 years if you buy vs if you leased.

2014 RS7's with 40,000 miles are at about 50% of original value. So, finance it and you are going to be about 10% of MSRP less cost. Either way its expensive there's no getting out of that, but its certainly better than the lease option.

Also, if you've secured a ~2% interest rate then there's no real need to finance the whole car over the time you own it. Put a healthy enough down payment to get out of the bulk of the interest and then target to pay somewhere in between the cars full value and the used price as you go. Simple interest loans you can make adjustments to your payment upwards at any time.

Tax rate is 8.25 or so in Ny. You would need to put 25k down. 5 or 6 years. Payments still over a 1k per month. In 4 years you will be lucky to trade it in not upside down. Private party sale maybe Good luck selling a used car private for over 35-40k.

RS5 appear to be holding their values pretty well, 4 years after the fact...

New RS5s are over 85k, some pushing the six-boundary... I honestly don't know how to get that car cheaper, it's just an expensive car.

Any car that costs that much will present the same issues as the ones discussed in this thread, it's just that for these purposes, assuming monthly payment isn't an issue, only maximizing the usage of that money, the most effective option would be finance over lease.

I don't think anyone who's used to 500 dollar a months payment should consider jumping into an RS5 without having the money for the car in the first place.

At what point? A brand new RS7 will be well over $115k. You're looking at paying at least 30k more over a new RS5 SB. Now me personally I'd rather take a new RS5 customized to my spec over a used RS7 especially given the fact the C7's are starting to show their age.

I meant to say like a year or two old rs7 not new. Honestly, i love the s5 SB. I tried getting the 18 rs5 just the numbers were insane

Not 500 a month. But honestly in my opinion 1100-1150 a month is fair.

Oh okay. I think I still would go with the RS5 SB. You're still going to pay close to $90k for a year or two old RS7. Even if it was the same price, the RS7 will be worth less then RS5 SB in 4 years. I think the RS7 is a great car and if money was no object and I needed the space I would wait for the new RS7s and go that route (actually I probably would get a Mercedes AMG GT 63s or AMG E63s). I just don't need all that room and I'm not at a point where I would feel comfortable paying well over $100k for a car. I also prefer the way the RS5 SB drives (granted I've only driven a S5 SB but its the same car with more power). I think the OP will do what he feels is best though. Just my opinion.

My car payments will be well under $1000/month but I'm also putting down a huge down payment. Sounds like you got a great deal on your S5 though. $650/month with $0 is only $50 buck more then what I was paying on a lease for my 2014 Lexus IS 350 F sport. The S5 is a wayyyyy better car then that Lexus.

You only get a5 in ny for 6-700 a month. S5 9-950. Rs5 should be 1100-1200. Based on sales. Rs5 are not selling. It’s evident how many 2018 are left over.

If you guys are curious as to what lease rates and MF and RVs are going for right now, check out the Edmunds forums for leases. People there are posting what they're getting across the country in different markets. Great place to start.

For those getting quoted 1200+ a month on an RS5 lease, if you talk the dealer down 6k for the selling price, that will effectively get you to about 1000 a month, give or take twenty bucks.

It shouldn't be this hard to talk a dealer down 6k on an 87k dollar car. It's not THAT hot.

    Rs5 lease

See. I’m glad guys see. They not selling. Their price is to high. I’m not desperate. I’m paying 950 for my Rs5. I think personally to high. 1150-1200 I was willing to go with on the S5. Tax down. 5k. They gonna sell me car and make some money there as well. But they told me it’s a favor. They are making no money. I’m not even gonna deal with them any more. Will just move on when lease is up. I’m not a little kid whose gonna throw a tantrum in the toy store.

Near six figure cars eating up lot space and not being sold for weeks to months at a time isn't a good look, no matter how special the performance variants are.

I can understand Honda trying to make money on type RS with Mark ups, but Audi makes a lot of performance cars, it's expected to have those for them.... They should be more open to the idea of negotiating.

Not sure about in NY, but I've seen people paying 750 to 900 a month on M3s. C63s are much higher, probably in par with RS5s.
