    Recommended intake for B8.5 2.0T

Hey guys, i'm looking to buy an intake but not sure which is the best for better sound & performance. My car is stock so it's very quiet. I've seen a lot of people talking about APR Carbonio and K&N Cold Air Intake. Which one is better? Or is there one that is not that well known but you believe is also as good?

    Recommended intake for B8.5 2.0T

IMO the ecs luft technik (non cf version) is perfect all around. Your not getting any real performance from an open intake but you can hear the turbo whine and it’s not horribly loud, radio or windows down usually covers sound. Perfect fit and all the correct hardware was there.

Haven’t used any of the others so don’t have an opinion on those. But theoretically there shouldn’t be much of a difference besides personal preference on looks or fit.

Quite a few ppl on here use the afe dry filter and inlet hose as an alternative to cai

K&N is the best bang for the buck.

So pretty much if I want more performance, I should get a closed air intake? I'm not that experienced at modding cars or whatever. Learning little by little.

I've seen videos and i'm liking the sound of the typhoon or whatever it's called. Seems like the best option at the moment unless I find something better tbh.

The kn sounds terrible as do all open intakes on our cars but the kn also has a big design flaw in that it puts the maf wire under full tension. Any further engine movement which can easily happen will damage the maf wire...

I picked up an oem junk yard airbox and drilled two large 3" holes in it away from the hot engine and then put an afe filter in it. Youll get a tad bit of noise but not the terrible screeching you get a constant load like the open intakes that sound like a dying animal and youll eliminate the possibility of any restriction the airbix could pose though i dont think it does as i saw zero change on wastegate duty with any of the options i tested

There’s no one intake that’s decidedly better than the others per say. Certainly none are advantageous as far as hp gain is concerned. It’s just inherent with our engine/turbo design. That being said, you can check off the K&N Typhoon based on the design flaw. It comes down to personal taste in terms of sound and aesthetics really. Now, should you upgrade to say Stage 2 and up, its a must.

Im running k04 and went back to the stock box with no holesand saw no performance reduction fwiw. The holes and afe will give you a tiny subtle noise though if that's what you're looking for.

Exactly what I run. Stock airbox with aFe filter and ECS inlet pipe. Not going to spend $300-400 on an inake that does nothing for performance.

I might just go with APR Carbonio if that's the case. Love the design on it. Or the ECS that was mentioned earlier. Carbon fiber looks nice. What do you think of the APR? Any opinion on that one?
