Omg I woulda been that bug to a windshield at 100mph.

BUT, I did have a V8 firebird from 15-18, and smokey and the bandit 6.6L from 18-21 (crashed it 3 times, painted it a beautiful metallic midnight blue, then slow cars until 26, when I finished college at UF. Then got a new 97 GTI VR6 5spd and the pocket rocket began...

I disagree. Being able to afford a car depends on ones wealth, their credit score, income, etc. Coincidentally, there have been numerous studies that have shown that age plays a part in determining ones wealth accumulation and this vehicle is by no means a small purchase. Either way, it was a response made in jest since at 25 I was in no financial position to afford a car like this--hence the "haha" at the end.

Bought it for my 50th birthday present to myself.

34 here. this car was a long time coming for me.

nearly bought an A4 10 years ago, when I was at a previous job in an entirely different field. Had a 1999 Jetta at that time which I had driven since high school. Decided to switch careers entirely which required moving back in with my parents for a bit (!), studying for the mcat, going to medical school, residency, and then fellowship. The Jetta lasted me halfway into medical school (~175k miles), after which i didn't need a car because i was in NYC. Picking up the RS3 was a huge day!!

But it actually depends more on something I don't have and don't plan on having: kids.
