Ultra Sport "Rare" A4 Model: Thoughts?

Hey guys,

I just came across this news posted in the Audi Club of North America about 40 ultra sport A4s being released as a final farewell to the manual Audi lineup: https://audiclubna.org/audi-a4-ultra...ighly-limited/

Thoughts? Do you think it's worth the investment trying to get a hold of one of these, before it's gone for good? This question is coming from a current B8.5 S4 owner, so it'll probably be a performance "downgrade" for me, but an upgrade in probably all other aspects. The car looks sleek for sure. :-)

Would be nice to see it in Avant trimmings for sure! OP, IMO it's highly unlikely that the car will have collector value, but just like the B6 USP, there might a limited but strong used market for it down the line.

Will be interesting to see if anything on this car is exclusive to the USP or if it is just a mish-mash of options already available at other levels or on other platforms, besides the manual trans.

Looked through the options available, it's mostly a combination of existing options from the S and RS lines, but the final outcome looks pretty sleek though. They will most likely price these 40 models unrealistically high ($6,800 for the USP upgrade already announced), which will hopefully calm my nerves and urges not to trade my B8.5 S4 in for this. Lol.

Its not that unique when considering the alternatives. There are 2018 Black Optics Sport A4s (even in manual) that are pretty close to this spec. Plus there will be plenty of 2019+ B9 A4s (DSG) in similar S-Line or Black Optics spec. So it'll be a rare appearance package, but not all that special of a model. It'd be different if it had an uprated factory tune, S3 motor, or something to really give it some extra performance.

I agree, the appearance is the only thing that's different in the ultra sport version, the engine should've definitely been upgraded to something different than a regular A4 2.0T quattro. :-(

Summer ending is Arizona is certainly not sadness in my mind. Lol. You are right about the collector car idea, I wish it had the S4 engine to make it truly one of a kind, and I would've definitely put a deposit down. How much did you have to put down btw? Audi North Scottsdale was telling me they would need me to sign a purchase agreement too...

I’m being told they need absolute proof of a real buyer. They’re not releasing any cars to dealers to be “floor” models. I don’t have confirmation of a car yet, hoping tomorrow. If it works out great, if not, then I keep on driving with the top down.

The deposit is refundable I hope, right? If you don't "like" the way it drives/shifts, you can choose not to purchase this, right? Also, is the sticker price inclusive of the ultra sport package? Or is that another $6,800 extra add-on (as I've read in the post)...? Sorry for the noob questions...

They’re taking it as non-refundable if the car gets allocated. Not my first leap of faith car purchase. (And those all ended kinda poorly, lol)

The sticker price being the MSRP for the whole car with destination, yes $6800 included in it.

Thanks for the clarification, and I hope the vehicle gets allocated to you! I am glad the $6,800 is included with the sticker price, otherwise it would've been way too expensive for an A4 in my opinion. I might PM you for more details, a possibly a request to view the car in person since you are local, yikes! :-)

Apparently they have to reach out to their regional Audi rep as they're the ones allocating them from the port to dealer. They're already built and "in-country". Presently the system is saying a 30 day ETA.

I picked a new a4 b9 Quattro with $7500 off this Saturday from chapman here in Arizona. $3500 of the discount came from Audi finance, loyalty and $1000 from trading a car with a recall. the other $4000 off came from the dealer before I even opened my mouth. $51625-$7500.

I was playing around with the configurator today and it looks like to get close to what the car is it comes to about $56k and still doesn’t include the 19” wheels or the carbon bits. Looks like a decent deal of you consider the $3900 for the color, but granted if I could order any way I wanted it would’ve been Glut Orange.

I’ll post when it starts to move from the port.

Really wish I could buy one too, but I just got my new A4 last year. But, my biggest fear is how I'd replace my A4 manual transmission if anything were to happen to it. Seeing this thread gives me hope that hopefully there will continue to be manual B9 A4s in the used car market. I also wish Audi would release another manual transmission model for the US in the future. I would really like my next new car to be an Audi instead of a BMW. Nothing against BMW, but I like Audi more.

I'm in the club, and I got a triple-zero VIN to boot.
If you're still looking, don't be discouraged by my previous post. I got this car after they had all been allocated. Some dealers were pushed cars rather than having to pull them as sold orders, so if you do the legwork, there are cars still sitting out there unclaimed.
