Additional Preventative Maintenance Items for 3.0T?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Any recommendations above and beyond what's in the standard service schedule?

Sports diff maintenance on the RS5/RS7 schedule?
    Front diff fluid change?
    Center diff fluid change?
    Manual trans fluid/gear oil change?
    Coolant drain/fill?
    Fuel pump cam follower replacement?
    PCV valve replacement?

Curious to me that some of these are left off the maintenance schedule. Hoping some of you long-time Audiphiles can shed some light on good preventive maintenance tips for items known to wear out in the 3.0T.

That's on the Maintenance Schedule. Thanks for the reminder, though!

Guess you guys aren't servicing your cars/just blindly let the dealer handle it?

Not sure if this is on the schedule, but my shop replaced the supercharger belt at my 75K service recently.

Sports diff maintenance on the RS5/RS7 schedule? YES

    Front diff fluid change? YES
    Center diff fluid change? YES
Manual trans fluid/gear oil change? YES

Those 3 I do when I get a car and again at around 100k or so if I still own it. They are supposed to be a lifetime full but I don’t risk it for the cost.

Coolant drain/fill? Only if I’m breaking in to the system for some reason or it looks contaminated in any way.

Fuel pump cam follower replacement? On a 2.0 yes but haven’t on my S4.

PCV valve replacement? I’d put that on your to do list if you are digging in to the engine for any reason. Do the thermostat while you are there.

    Things to keep an eye on;

Bottom pulley for starting to separate, it’ll start with a wobble before breaking up.

Oil in the coolant, these run the typical Audi VW oil/water cooler and they often go bad allowing oil into the coolant. Not a big job to replace but getting all the oil out of the cooling system is a ball ache. Forge motorsport do a plate to remove the cooler and run lines to an air/oil cooler.

I do all my own servicing as my local Audi dealer is crap.
