5 mm spacer was all it took and the caliper clears by 1 mm. 19" x 8.5 rotors with ET 35. Discs are 380mm. Stock A8 carriers used.

I have a Jetta Sportwagen with R32 Brake swap, so it went from 312F/272R to 345F/310R and that has quite wicked brakes, it stops with impressive power, pisses off the ABS system.

On my A4 with Stage 2 APR tune DP, etc its a fast car but the stock brakes just left something to be desired.

I swapped over to stock S4 brakes and those to me are just perfect, tons of bite, light pedal, I wouldnt want any more. I did notice a bit of different suspension behavior when I went ot heavey brakes on both cars but thats due to the added mass.

I cant even imagine how 380mm will affect accelaration and suspension but I bet it triggers ABS function quite often during panic stops does it?

Looks the same as the UK SQ5 calliper. Weight isn’t too bad. ET43 is stock so would need a larger spacer on those.

Very nice. I tried with a7 calipers and it wouldn’t clear my ag 590 9.5 et 45 and I didn’t want to put spacers on cuz my wheels would stick out. But awesome set up and they not that heavy.

Will the Q5 4 pot fit? (345x30 ones) They should be pretty similar to the OE calipers.

Off topic but it looks like you are running BC Racing BR Series coilovers. If so, what is your opinion of them performance wise? I had them on my 350z and thought they weren't too bad at all, although I only logged probably ~6k miles on them before selling.

Mine ride great, considerably better than my buddies H&R street coils.

I wish I would have gone with stiffer springs in the back though.

The car s my sons name so he logs the miles but I really like the ride. Very compliant, really good in the corners. Just did the sways and links and I think I am gonna have to raise up the ride height maybe 1/4". For my liking it will give just a tad more body control.

Those are my winter wheels and they are TIGHT. I can't get a single piece of paper between the barrel and the caliper. The faces are also crazy tight.

My OZs have much more room.

I know that haha, I was talking about wheel clearance. The AG M590s won't work with a lot of big brakes. (SQ5/A8 or the RS5/R8)

They might work with the new S4 brakes or the Q5 4 pots.

I have a set of 6 pot 380mm stoptechs already machined to fit m590s that I will likely be offering up for sale soon. I purchased for the same exact reason-no bbks fit the m590s-but I just never put them on. Pm me if interested.

Yes they fit, I've got them on mine. Work great and wonderful pad selection as they are the same brembo calipers that are found on the Sti and Corvette.

I've been working sourcing this same setup for a while now, but the limited availability for A8/SQ5 rotors at a more reasonable price point dwindled out. AdvanceAuto Parts had em for <$80 a piece, shipped, but they're on backorder until further notice/unknown restock date.

Yes, these 2-pot calipers are shared btwn the D4 A8, and the B8 SQ5 platform. Much larger pad size/material was a drawing aspect to this setup on our B8/B8.5 A and S4/5 cars.

Unfortunately, the limited series of rotor makes other options like the 356mm A7 setup a go-to route as well.

Those look great - very nicely done, and def more cost effective than an off-the-shelf BBK.

I've been researching BBK's for my 2013 S4. There is so many different combinations everyone is using I would like to make sure I have this straight. If I get D4 A8 calipers, carriers with A8 380mm rotors it will bolt right up to my S4 correct?

You really don't need that big, the Macan - Q5 calipers and a nice aftermarket two piece rotor are sufficient on track for advanced/instructor run groups. And they are lighter than stock which helps unsprung weight as well.

Yes, but depending on the wheels you have you may or may not need a spacer - MM thickness TBD based on the wheel selection.

You don't NEED them, but they do look good filling up that space!

    Whiped,

What size and offset are the VMR's & Oz's you are using with this brake setup? Do you have a writeup on this already with this info? You two are the first I have seen tackle this setup! Also did you notice a large difference in braking performance?

    Thanks,

SO far the performance gains in braking are TBD. The pads are still getting bedded in to the discs and because I have only put about 20 miles on the car its hard to tell. The car is noticeably heavier in the front end when pushed in the corner. Running BC coilovers so going to put a few rounds preload in the springs and raise it up about 2 turns. This should negate those effects. WHILE OUT BEDDING IN THE BRAKES I WAS VERY LATE IN BRAKING FOR A TURN AND IT ACTIVATED THE ABS ON DRY PAVEMENT. SO FOR BITE, THE BRAKES HAVE PLENTY. Sorry about caps, not retyping it. Never had that happen on dry with the stock S4 setup. Looks great behind thee 5 spoke rotors as well!

    Geoff,

What is your feeling about brake performance vs. Stock S4's? How many miles you have on this setup?

I took some back roads today and the brake performance is only getting better!

I've had the brakes fade on a number of occasion s. I've put in ss lines, ebc yellow stuff pads and Adams slotted rotors and have still had fade. Going bigger is the next step. Thanks for the advice.

Way better but I can still get them to fade a bit if I beat on them. Then again, I can get the same with my buddies RS5 setup on his car.

I might add some ducting at some point but for now they are great. Especially considering I was in less than a grand for the front and rear setup :)

Couldn't agree more, ebc yellows suck.
