    Footwell lights?

So, after a bunch of Audis, I'm quite amazed that there are no puddle lights, and not even any footwell lights in my 50k S3. I got some lighted sill plates, and am trying to find a voltage source for when the door is open. Worst case, it looks like I could tap off the LED light that surrounds the B&O speaker housing in the door, but can't see how to get at the door harness where it connects at the body.

    Anybody?

    TIA.

Umm... huh? Your reference to the price implies Prestige trim. That... that has footwell lighting and under-door puddle lighting. I know, because I have the same car. Is it possible the footwell lighting is set to 0% intensity? I can't recall whether the puddle lights are tied to the footwell setting. I think they likely aren't.

Ok, I exaggerated a little (Premium Plus), but this is the first Audi of 6 that didn't have any lighting, and was not the cheapest. Feels like they really cheaped out on the A3/S3, but regardless, Trying to find somewhere to pull power that is only active when you open the door.

It should have footwell lighting? Maybe the previous owner turned the lights off via the MMI menu.

Take a look at this thread. OP has a bunch of videos on how to retrofit lighting. I did this myself for OEM cupholder rings, rear USB socket, and footwell lights. Simple aftermarket footwell LEDs can also be spliced into the lighter power wiring and dims with the panel rheostat if you don't want to get into VAG-COM coding.

HBird - No footwell lighting. Not even a place for them to go. I would have at least thought there would be a cutout spot where they would get installed with wiring behind it - that's how most mfgs do it to limit the amount of wiring harness variation. Same for the puddle light location.

    MonzaA4 - I'll check it out, thanks.

Since you have a 2015 does your car have the Convenience Pack? I think LED interior lighting might be tied to that.

@MonzaA4, thanks for referencing my videos. That was very classy and I appreciate it. @Spinnetti, unless your package included the LED setup, there is no footwell lighting. Can you add it in and hardwire it into the vehicle's control box??? Yes you can! I meant to put together a DIY for the footwell lights but was busy relocating from Seattle to SoCal and could not accomplish it. It's one of the next DIY projects I intend to complete once I buy my house and have my garage all setup again.

If you do attempt to perform the DIY youself, I would not recommend tapping into any regular power supply. Do it right and connect it to the vehicle's control box so that you can Vagcom code it, then have the ability to adjust lighting in the MMI.
