[Advice Seeker] Audi A7 Color Selection

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi there,

I am about to own my first Audi car and it is going to be the new A7. I am litter undecided here about the color. Actually, I am a big fan of shades of grey but, as you know, Audi offers a wide selection of grey color. My choice would be between Daytona Grey and Vesuvius Gray. To me Daytona grey seems a little bit too light and Vesuvius Gray seems to be too dark.

I have seen Daytona grey in real life but haven’t seen Vesuvius Gray yet and I don’t think I will be able to see it before I order it. I live in KSA where it is mostly sunny, like really sunny. So, my only concern about Vesuvius Gray that it looks like Black most of time as my current Lexus is Black and I am really board of the color.

My dealer recommends Daytona grey; what do you guys think? pictures would be much appreciated,

Bouns Question: Is it really worth it to spend the extra money on Air Suspension?

I truly appreciate your support and expertise,

    Hey Okazo,

This is a good question. Ultimately the color thing is a matter of taste so there’s no right or wrong answer my friend. Personally if I am coming from a black car and wanting to do something a little different I’d go with the lighter grey. Furthermore I’ve seen the Daytona Grey in real life and it just sparkles and is overall a gorgeous color. It would have been my color of choice but wife vetoed and go her white. I have not seen Vesuvius so cannot comment on it with as much confidence. Furthermore with how hot it is in Saudi for 6+ months a year it might not be bad having a lighter color car. I grew up in Kuwait so can totally appreciate the 50 degree Celsius days and dark cars make it even more miserable.

Like I said it’s a matter of preference so can’t go wrong with either. I’d personally do Daytona.

As for the air suspension, I guess it depends. In the US my S7 came with it as standard equipment and it’s nice. But in many places here the roads are atrocious and I would personally pay to equip my car with it had it not been an included feature. I’ve never been to Saudi but in Kuwait do recall that roads were incredibly smooth. So depending on how much they’re charging for it it may not be worth it for you. My recommendation is to try and test drive two cars, one with it and one without and decide if you want. They could be A6s or A7s so whatever the dealership can get you for a test. If it’s a cheap option I’d say go for it.

    Good luck buddy.

I have a Daytona car and I've not seen Vesuvius. I actually don't love grey cars, but fell in love with Daytona after seeing it in person. I get compliments on it all the time. You're buying the right chassis.... so I don't think you can go wrong with the color! :)

I have Nardo Grey; please DO NOT buy one that color... It's so rare, i don't want to see others...

Seriously though, spending money on a car and choosing color is SO personal, you gotta just be happy with whichever color you choose. I can say, for maintenance, however, the "lighter" the color, the easier it is to maintain and the less is shows imperfections... Maybe that helps.

Thank you guys, really appreciate your contribution,

I understand that the color is a personal taste, and I am pretty certain that I like darker grey but not too dark (blackish) nor too light (sliverish) (complicated isn't :)). The issue is that most of the videos I watch are edited and don't reflect the real color. In addition, the dealership here doesn't showcase all of the colors. Daytona grey looks interesting and I think I am going with it. My only concern about it that it could look brownish under sunshine ,and oh my god I really hate brown!

I eliminated Vesuvius Grey because I realized that I looks like coal black more than grey. Glacier White though has entered the competition with black mirrors and black strikes alloys but most likely I am going with Daytona Grey.

Thank you all again and sorry for the details but I am super picky when it comes to details :)

No worries buddy. This is exciting when you get to order a car exactly the way you want it so don't apologize for being picky or whatever. I have Glacier White and I really like. If not for the wife though I would have done Daytona Grey. Can't go wrong with any color that makes you happy :-)

I have Ascari Blue, it’s a bit different to most blues, varies from a dark blue to a light pastel blue when in direct sun. I get a lot of compliments on it.

Can’t go wrong with Daytona Grey though, great color.

If I am going with Glacier White, my car is going to look like this

The advantage of Glacier White is that it perfectly exposes the grill, panoramic sunroof, and bumper.
Disadvantage: widely used in Saudi especially in economic cars such as Hyundai Accent or very traditional cars like Toyota Land Cruiser.

Here is how it is going to look with Daytona Grey

I would avoid white. It’s so ubiquitous these days that it’s boring. If I had to do it over again, I would get the following in order of desirability:

    1. Nogaro Blue
    2. Nardo Grey
    3. Florett Silver Metallic
    4. Daytona Grey

Daytona Grey is hard to do justice in pictures. I certainly don't see even a hint of brown in mine, and I know exactly what you're talking about. If anything people have described my car as having a hint of blue. I previously tried to capture the color, but I'm not a photographer so it's not great. I'm attaching a few pics of mine to give you an idea.

I was ogling a Daytona Grey RS7 Performance at the dealership last month. Absolutely stunning. No brown. Sparkles in the light. Just a wonderful color that even my white-car-loving wife agreed that my S7 would have looked good in it.

Daytona with black optics is tough to beat. I ended up with black as my ordered Daytona was stuck at port forever.....and I’m impatient. Should have held out for Daytona and kinda regret it.

Thank you all, really appreciate your contributions

I think I am going to go with Daytona Grey with 21" 5-V-spoke star design, contrasting grey, partly polished alloy wheels. They contrast really well with the color. White with black optics looks too sporty to me, and, in my case, I meet with a lot of government senior officials and tend to be super judgy about sporty cars.

@Chasinfsh15 Daytona with Black Optics/alloys looks too dark to me. I think shiny finishes contrast well with the color. Black Optics/alloys contrast very well with lighter colors like White or Sliver though.
BTW, don't regret whatever decision you make. Believe, if you have gotten Daytona Grey, you would've looked differently at your current color :D human being man :)
