Hi there, I am looking for an affordable but great quality RS4 Style Grille with a built in slot for the emblem as I don't think I'd ever want to go bare without it.

Wondering if you guys have any experience on the ones on eBay?

IMHO, the quality of almost all of them is identical, whether you pay $ 150 or $ 250, since they are ALL made in China. The biggest difference is in how the rings are mounted. The first one I bought had a separate mounting bracket for the rings, and the second had the ring holder built into the grille. Check some of the previous threads, most of us have had great luck ordering from StoneCarbon on Ebay.

I'll try to take a better one up close, but you can't see the black hex mesh, unless you are right on top of it.

I only waited a couple of hours for the second one, and a day for the third. I gave it a good keying first with fine sandpaper.

That particular one has the chrome colored frame around the edge of it. The rings are included, badge is not. You'll probably get an RS4 badge with it.

Yeah, I figure that since I'm not black optic and it'd be a bit of a pain to do it, the chrome will work well with my florett silver situation. Thanks about the rings and badge bit... sounds like all I'd need would be the clip and an S4 badge, and a can of the bed liner and I'd be pretty much set for the basics.

I just ordered this grille with the Quattro from another Ebay seller and almost got it in one week (ordered last week Wednesday and it arrived today but had to be signed for so I won't get it until tomorrow now). It is a very nice surprise to see it ship so early! Would have been two days faster than the earliest time quoted on Ebay. I can comment on fitment/quality once I get it and install it this weekend.

I'd bet it will be perfectly fine. As I mentioned earlier, quality seems to be the same regardless of price point for the Chinese reps.

Every time I see it from the side it reminds me of a pigs snout. Ridiculous they don't make a lower profile one for the grille because it looks like crap from the side.
A 3-D print for the rings to just clip on a particular/popular grille would be cool.

Just finished installing the new grille! I dremeled out the three plate holder mesh holes to match and left the camera holder pieces for now. Looking at it I might remove them at a later time.

Also I didn't even realize until completing the install but the bumper is adjustable in and out to better match up with the headlights and front line of the hood. When I bought the car the bumper/grille was set far back under the hood line it just looked like something was awry. It seemed really weird the with how well Audi designs the body panels to match up and have tight, clean seams that the hood and bumper would be so far off. When reinstalling I simply adjusted those tabs and tightened the screws and it looks 1000x better.

Overall quality is exactly what you expect. Not as high quality as our OEM parts but everything lined and all tabs and bolt holes matched correctly. Overall a definite upgrade and I would recommend this one for anyone looking for the Quattro style grille. And this seller shipped it to me from China in 6 business days just a reminder! I prefer the black optic pkg grille rather than the RS4 mesh. The honeycomb never sat well with me when combined with the standard S4 bumper.

It would be nice to do a full RS4 bumper swap with the grill somehow, I've seen a few examples out there.

Holy shit I didnt realize it was that bad. Figured it was like half an inch, 3/4 at most of stickout, not damn near 2 inches! thats just absurd

They all pretty much come like that. I think it would look much more pronounced if the grille were vertical, but with the slight angle, it really doesn't stick out that badly. I'm happy with the way it looks coming straight at you.
Obviously everyone has different tastes/opinion.

For people with the skillset, this seems like it would be a relatively simple thing to fix. Either making a thinner ring mount in the first place, or by cutting some slits into the mount itself so that it could slide into the grille itself, and be glued in to the grille on the back side.

Someone please do and update us :)

Cutting, fabricating and gluing a cheap piece of plastic, might be tough without it looking tacky. You would be better off buying the grille with the removable ring holder, and then coming up with a clean way of attaching the rings directly to the grille. I know that has been done by someone on here.

At one point I had one of the grilles ECS was selling with the detachable ring holder and toyed around with idea of attaching the rings directly to the honeycomb. I ultimately abandoned the project because, ironically enough, I thought the grille had too little dimension with no ring holder base at all. I ultimately sold the ECS grille and purchased one from a seller on AliExpress that has a molded in ring holder with more OEM-like protrusion from the honeycomb; however, I ran into some fitment issues when test fitting it and also have not had the motivation to come up with a clean way of hiding the crash bar (e.g. the flat panel behind the mesh like OEM RS3/RS7 grilles have), so in my basement the grille sits for now:

It's not so bad with OEM parts made of quality plastic which are more pliable, but I've found after trying to work with plenty of Chinese-made ABS parts that it's better to file tabs down for an intentionally looser fit than to try to force the brittle plastic into place.....not to mention the copious amount of tabs and screws holding the grille to the bumper cover. Worst case, I make the connection too loose, and that's what hot glue guns are for.

Wow is right, I had no idea most of the aftermarket grilles came this way. I just made a quick run out to my car at work and took a picture of mine since it's actually pretty minimal of a protrusion. The rings holder is built in to the mesh on mine though rather than needing to be mounted on separately. Here's what mine looks like:
