Single pulley tune audi a7 s tronic vs stock rs7?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
New owners of an a7 tfsi s tronic, think of doing an single pulley set up tune, will it match the stock rs7 in performance?

Since the rs7 is zf 8 speed, I got the dual clutch version of a7, which should shift lot faster. Will it match it during 0 to 100 km? I have driven both stock s7 and tuned S6, just Don. T feel that fast compared to the 3.0 tfsi, maybe just me like the supercharger response. I never driven the rs7 so not sure how does it drive.

Anyone has driven both please give some advice

I’d be willing to bet some coin that a stock RS7 will blow the doors off the A7 in pretty much any scenario...stage 1,2,3

I don't think an A7 with a single pulley and tune can match the performance of a stock S7. RS7 is well beyond the capabilities of an A7 in any form. You'd have to go all out and even then, not sure it would beat a stock RS7.

I do understand what you are saying in that the stock S6/S7 doesnt "feel" THAT fast, but rest assured it is fast.. One reason it might not feel fast is because it does it so effortlessly and smoothly. Usually cars this fast are a touch more violent and you "feel" fast with all the noises and such. These cars are quiet and sleeper fast... Did I say fast enough times...

That is something I’m not used to yet, I’m Stage 2 on my S7 and it just doesn’t have that punch I’ve had with less HP cars in the past. I got this car in March so I’m still getting used to it. It’s scary when I romp on it for a few seconds and I’m doing 130+ when I think I’m doing 80-90

I hear you.. When I drive my manual cars with decent power, I get that power hit each gear and it throws you in the seat and makes lot of different noises from divertor valves, intake suction noises to exhaust crackling. My S6 just goes and goes and doesn't stop, all with no drama or noise.. Much faster but it kinda doesn't feel like it sometimes until you are going warp speed and have to put our big brakes to work..

No where close to an RS7. I have about everything under the sun done to mine ( 2 mods on the way) and I'm still a little slower than a stock RS7.

Doesn't the a7 have a multi tronic transmission and not a s tronic?

    I. M thinking of doing a single pulley tune then that's it, save money for an rs7 later.

So for all of you driven both the s7 and rs7, does the rs7 feel lot faster? Even they both almost are the same car

Yes I am an RS7 owner so may be slightly biased. However the answer to your question is "NO" a fully tuned A7 with an Ultra charger and on full race fuel can not touch a stock RS7. Per APR a stage 2 single pulley only puts out 477 HP. A fully tilt stage 2 plus with an ultracharger on race fuel puts out 533HP. After all those mods your best to just buy and RS7 and tune that ;)

As stated above, in different ways, an A7 is not beating a stock RS7 not matter how deep the mod list runs

You must be kidding. RS7 is 560-605 horsepower, depending on whether it has the performance package. You'll be almost 200 hp down on it with a stage 1 tune and probably at least 100 hp down on it if you really pour on the mods. Not even close. Not even in the same ballpark. Should not be discussed in the same sentence. Twin turbo 4.0 V8 with all the performance tricks built in. That car does 0-60 mph in about 3.2 seconds. With practice and ideal launch conditions, it will probably get down into the high 2 second range. Quarter mile is in the low 11's, possibly high 10s under ideal conditions, pure stock.

Do you know how to use Google?

Try it. Just Google RS7 horsepower and you get this:

    https://www.caranddriver.com/audi/rs7

And, the ZF8 comes with built in brutal launch control, even on my lowly pig heavy Q5, once you know the sequence to activate it. In sport mode shifts are lightning fast, extremely firm, and gearing is better suited to acceleration.

It may be time to stop spoon feeding you, sir, and ask you to do some basic research.

When AMAX is engaged on the RS7 the shifts are so fast and smooth it’s as if they do not exist. It is something truly special.

Hi I. M not saying a tuned a7 can beat an stock rs7, but s tronic is a superior transmission than zf 8, in every form, depending how your driving style, if you manually shift most time, the zf will be very slow compared to s tronic

If the DSG is a bolt on affair, which I believe it is because of the Asian market cars (A7). Why hasn't anyone did the swap? I know our car is heavier but with the same mods the S4 should not be that much faster. Spit balling here

The 8HP has become ubiquitous for a reason. Smooth, reliable, and can be tuned for luxury or performance applications. The DL501 is known for issues, torque limitations and clunkiness. I'll keep my modern day slush box.

There is a reason the ZF8 is used in the Dodge (MOPAR) high performance 700 hp cars. It has a torque converter and very brutal launch control, ideal gearing and incredibly sophisticated software.

Your slush box won't allow you sub 1.7 60' times. The shifts of the DSG are sublime in comparison to the ZF. There are limitations for each transmission on the C7 platform, but I would never describe the DL501 as clunky, at least not in the facelift cars.

I'm aware the ZF in the RS cars allows for amazing launches but from a roll and regular driving conditions like daily commuting, the DSG shifts better, as would any dual clutch in comparison

Limitations of a fast 60ft are related to the stall speed of the torque converter. That can be modified :)

I'm also from Singapore. Stage 2 dual pulley A6 S-tronic with TCU tune, intake, exhaust and cooling mods. been on few runs with RS6. i can tell you it's NOT close bro.

The only stat that MIGHT be able to compare is 0-100kmh. because our supercharger has instant boost, launch controls are REALLY fast. I'm sub 4sec 0-60mph and i'd think that would be pretty close to RS6 level performance. anything more than that the RS will walk away FAST.

you can PM me if you wanna meet up. can discuss more. not many A6/7 modders here in SG

i'm using the mercracing HX. i did stage 1 then went to stage dual pulley. in between i did the TCU tune.

i can't speak for single vs dual pulley, but from stage 1 to DP stage 2, the peak power is not a HUGE difference. it's everything before that that really improved. low and mid range was increased to point that you really do need to modulate the throttle to keep the car from lunging forward. i don't think i'm exaggerating. i too was skeptical about the gains from stage 2 but knowing what i do now i really should've gone straight to DP stage 2 from the beginning. but bear in mind i also have the TCU tune which increases the rev limiter and so I'm able to take advantage of the gains up top with stage 2.

Did you had trouble fitting the coolant? I. M order one from Merc too, hope it can fit the A7 OK.

So you reckon the Tcu tune is worth it? Like faster shift? I might do the Tcu tune is well.

Did you end up remove your cat converter with the dual pulley set up?

    I. M plan just mod it for the street and some light track days, a7 is never gonna be a fast track car anyway, just have fun with it.

Reason I did. T buy the rs7 is mainly the transmission, I had zf 6 Speed in my Ford before, did not like the shift speed compared to the dual clutch.

If all out performance is my goal I would get a gtr35 instead, but hey end of the day, a 4 door sedan is still most practical

An out of the line question, what about an tuned a7 vs stock c6 v10 rs6 sedan, that look like a fair match. C6 rs6 is out dated with the 6 Speed auto, I. M sure the a7 has a good chance

It's very easy. Any reputable performance transmission shop can alter the fin geometry to make it happen. Cost less than $1000 to modify and another ~$1500 in labor if not R&R in your own.

yea, against the C6 RS6, a well-tuned A7 might be a good match. Not due to any lack of power in the monstrous biturbo V10 but more due to the very heavy weight and 6-speed trans. I think that RS6 did 0-60 in about 4.3-4.4 sec. I had the C6 S6 and that's more similar in quickness to a stock A7, though my old V10 had a lot more soul than my A7 and i miss it dearly! :)

i can't speak for single vs dual pulley, but from stage 1 to DP stage 2, the peak power is not a HUGE difference. it's everything before that that really improved. low and mid range was increased to point that you really do need to modulate the throttle to keep the car from lunging forward. i don't think i'm exaggerating. i too was skeptical about the gains from stage 2 but knowing what i do now i really should've gone straight to DP stage 2 from the beginning. but bear in mind i also have the TCU tune which increases the rev limiter and so I'm able to take advantage of the gains up top with stage 2.
Hi mate do you have any recommendations for brake upgrades? What brand Rotor and pad you recommend for the a7 3.0 tfsi?

Contemporary figures show more like 4.1 seconds 0-60 and 12.1-12.2 1/4 mile...so one would need a VERY well-tuned A7 to keep pace...
