Hi 2012 a7 3.0 tfsi, think of porting the throttle body, anyone done it? Get some gain better throttle response?

Many mechanics charge about 300 bucks to do it, relatively cheap but is it worth the gain?, any potential damage the car?

$300 is super expensive to port the TB.

I have mine ported, I did it when I was stage 1 and noticed a small difference. (Better throttle response and like +1whp)

It should, in theory, make a bigger difference the more boost you are running.

APR Stage 2+. Dual Pulley, Ultra Charger. Done.

What are your overall goals for the car? Any why are you creating so many threads in the S4 forum?

I'm going to guess that he's hanging here because we share the same engine, he seems interested in power mods, and there is little serious discussion about such mods to this engine in the A7 subforum. I'm here as a Q5 3.0 TFSI guy for the same reason.

But, he must be an "English is a second language" guy, as his posts are very difficult to read and understand.

Just a guess. Most of what he asks about has been covered in numerous earlier threads. We do have a forum search capability. He might want to explore using that a bit more, as the info is there and it is frustrating to have to provide answers to long, multi part questions over and over because someone was too lazy to search or didn't know he could.

    Just guessing . . .

Hi thanks for reply, does it throw code or give your jerky throttle when porting? What do you have to caution when porting the throttle body, like not go oversized? Cheers

You just need to make sure it still gets a good seal. If you mess up the seal then the car will be jerky at idle as it won't get a proper vacuum.

OK I will ask the guy who doing the porting seal it properly, and what size porting you recommend go up to? Is it worth doing it? Like better throttle response than stock? Yeah the guy doing it charge around 300, and he is the only one in my area doing it.

I just hope no idle problem
