    P0068 MAP/MAF - Throttle Position Correlation

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I got a P0068 code last night. After reading a bit, I figure it means either my manifold air pressure, or throttle position sensor is bad. I am going to try to clean my MAP as a first step.

I have a carista dongle. Is there any way to use that to monitor my throttle position and see if it is increasing and decreasing smoothly, or would I need to hook a multimeter up and check the voltages?

Has anyone else run into this? Just looking for some input from those more knowledgeable than myself.

I was getting codes as well. Took off the throttle body (super easy) and cleaned out the build up. No more cels and smoother idle. I also cleaned out the neck on the super charger. Before and after of the throttle body.

Oh, and I ran the throttle body adaptation and cleared codes. I have obdeleven so I used long coding to do it. Not sure if carista does it, or if its even required.

OK I cleaned out my MAP sensors and I used Torque to log my throttle position. The throttle position looked good, no dead spots or jumps all the way through the travel. Can anyone confirm if this is a valid testing procedure? CEL came right back on so I think the next step is to clean out my air filter as that is a bit overdue anyways, and clean out my throttle body. Can anyone confirm when a throttle body adaptation is required? I don't have any of the software required to do that now so I don't want to tear it apart and end up with a dead car in my driveway.

I also want to clean my throttle body for maintenance, but wasn't sure how to proceed. I read somewhere that you need to unplug the wired link to the throttle body, open the flap and spray valve cleaner directly. Someone else told me that I need remove the 2 bolts to dismantle the throttle body, unplug wire for cleaning.

Can you please write a little DIY steps?

    Thanks in advance,

    Remove intake tube
    Disconnect wiring plug on bottom
    Undo 4 bolts
    Pull straight out

    Reverse to put back

Follow vcds instructions for throttle body adaptation

Its easy. If you have ever done anything slightly mechanical, you got it.

Which throttle body cleaner you'll recommend?

If I don't unplug it, do I need to do the adaptation? I don't have VCDS.

I just used paper towels and sprayed brake cleaner on the paper towel and wiped it down until clean.

Not sure. I was searching and found other posts that i just followed. Since i have obdeleven i could do it. I dont think it is so much to do with unplugging and plugging back in, but the adaptation tells the ecu how far the flap is able to open/close after removing the buildup.

One the throttle body removed, is it necessary to change the throttle body O-ring sealed?

85k. Pics is pretty much what it was. Thickness of fingernail maybe? Enough to cause codes. Zoom in on the pics, you can see the difference.
