Radiator fan turns on for 3 seconds and shuts off. Control module and both 614 relays replaced (with some random brand from ECS Tunning that say 100 on them). it blew my radiator and now iv replaced that (and the ac compressor) and its just sitting there.*

Audi told me it was the*Control module so i replaced it and*it was still not working. The fan turns on even when the car is off (for like 3 seconds) so i replaced the relays. ITS STILL DOING IT!*

Side note: After i did the relays, the traction control light turned on so i put the old ones back in and its still on.

I wouldn't think it was the fan it self because it turns on, but it literally just turn right back off.

    Please help!*

Check the fans. The turning on for a few seconds and then turning back off has happened to me in a B7 and B6. Both times being the actual fans instead of the FCM or relay. The weird thing is that when I applied 12v directly to the fans, they don't turn off. What I'm guessing is the FCM is cutting the power to the fan after it detects too much resistance or something.

The only thing that never happened is the fans turning on while the car is off.

Could you have not noticed it? its vary rare and only happens about one every hour or so. i'v never noticed it unless I'm working on something.

I'm just really hoping thats it so I dont have to worry about it any more :/ what's even more messed up is audi was trying to make me think theres no way its the fan!

Also, how easy is it to test the fan? Do you know what wires to connect to the battery off the top of your head?

    -Thanks so much!

I had to replace both my fans and the fcm to get them to run properly. First my fcm was not powering the fans at all or it would turn them on for a couple seconds and then turn off. So I put a new fcm on and they got power for a short period but longer than before and then would shut off. It started to burn out the new fcm as well cause it started out putting reduced voltage. So I replaced the fans as well and the fcm started working normal again out putting 12 volts. So I've been told that the fans cannot burn out your fcm but I believe they burned out my first fcm and we're about to burn out my replacement as well.

Yeah the fan control module will turn off the fans if the resistance is too high. You should replace the fan. While you have a new one and a used one next to each other you should check resistance of both fans so we know what the range is for good VS bad and we will know when they stop working for future posts. 😀
