The 2.0 gasoline TFSI engine used in the US/Canadian Q3 has been around sice about 2008, and is generally reliable, most of the problem areas (PCV, waterpump, timing chain and tensioner, rear crankcase seal) were fixed by mid 2013, although there seems to be a batch of 2017 engines that have major camshaft problems. Make sure you change the oil and filter every 5000miles max, and use the correct oil that meets the VW specification. Change the automatic transmission fluid and filter every 40,000 miles, otherwise the transmission valve-body is subject to wear. The Q3 is actually the most reliable Audi model sold. It is a well made, solid, safe small SUV. The biggest negative of the Q3 is the limited passenger and cargo volume, and unremarkable fuel economy for its size (real-life average of 25 to 28 MPG). Also, the suspension of the Q3 is biased towards a comfortable quiet ride, rather than sharper handling, which may or may not be a plus or minus to you.
