The 2.0 gasoline TFSI engine used in the US/Canadian Q3 has been around sice about 2008, and is generally reliable, most of the problem areas (PCV, waterpump, timing chain and tensioner, rear crankcase seal) were fixed by mid 2013, although there seems to be a batch of 2017 engines that have major camshaft problems. Make sure you change the oil and filter every 5000miles max, and use the correct oil that meets the VW specification. Change the automatic transmission fluid and filter every 40,000 miles, otherwise the transmission valve-body is subject to wear. The Q3 is actually the most reliable Audi model sold. It is a well made, solid, safe small SUV. The biggest negative of the Q3 is the limited passenger and cargo volume, and unremarkable fuel economy for its size (real-life average of 25 to 28 MPG). Also, the suspension of the Q3 is biased towards a comfortable quiet ride, rather than sharper handling, which may or may not be a plus or minus to you.

I just traded in a 2015 Q3 premium with approx. 62,000 miles on it. Bought it new in Apr 15 and had it until June 18. Loved it, although like S4'ed wrote, the mileage wasn't the greatest. I was getting approx 21 city and 25 highway. I didn't have any problems with it. Since it was a premium all the electronics were the basic's; the only electronic options on it were blind spot detection and the backup camera.

We traded it in for a 2018 Q5; Needed more cargo room with the rear seats up. Cabin room is feels about the same; I'm 6' 2", 220 Lb and never felt cramped in the Q3.

Best of luck in your search.
