    Audi A3 8V Lowering Springs

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a Audi A3 8V and I just got vmr v710s 19x8.5 et35 wheels with 235/35 tires. I’ve been looking at Emmanuel Design lowering springs for the car. Does anybody have a similar set up? Wanting to know how they ride and I don’t want to rub even when having 5 people in the car.

I have 18×9 et 30 with 245/40/18 tires on neuspeed springs I rub on occasion when I hit a bump on the highway, and always rub over bumps when I have people sitting in the rear I would suggest getting coils unless the springs have a stiff rate

Ralphie, are those Alzor wheels from ECS tuning? Looks Staggered? Was thinking about those. I'd run 255/35 which is almost 1/2" shorter and I'm on 034 springs which are a bit higher, so thinking no rub with that setup.... (also running camber plates in front, so quite a bit of extra clearance)
2008 R8 V8 Manual: Uni 93 ECU tune * Avior Exhaust * Spacers * R8 Puddle lights * Custom mats. All 12 of my other VAG cars are gone :(

Yes they're alzor 020's they're 18x9 et30 squared on a 245/40 I do rub on the rear gonna get a new alignment to see if I can add some more camber to the rear or just roll the rear fenders

    Ralhpie,

Nice pictures! I especially like the last one with the sunset (or sunrise?). Very nice!

What tires are you running? Some run much wider or square than others.

Anyone here running OEM Sport shocks with aftermarket springs? I have some H&R Sport springs in my garage, but haven't installed them yet. I am sure they will work for a while, but if someone here has that package I would be interested in hearing about it.

Thanks! Yea it was a sunset. I'm running michelin pilot sport a/s 3+ 245/40R18. The non sport shock WERE amazing at stock height with stock springs the ride is a little harder with aftermarket springs looking into some coils now which is honestly a better mod to do if you have the cash at hand or to pair bilstein b8 shocks with springs I know a few people running that and their cars feel great

A Bilstein PSS setup is my long term plan, but funding is tight right now.
I do the work myself so I won’t lose out too much on the H&R Springs when I make the swap.
I ran H&R sports with Koni Sports on my MK6 Jetta, which is not terribly different than the A3 platform, and it was a great combination as well.

    Charvey,
I always recommend lowering springs to cheap coilovers. Adjustability is over-rated, most people set the height once and never mess with their suspension again.
Get your tires, enjoy the car, and if you really want to upgrade to coilovers you can swap them out later.

    Thanks for the reply man

I think I'm gonna go with some hr sports then. Do you have any experience with them and if they are not good what do you recommend? Would an upgraded rear swaybar be beneficial with the lowering springs also?

I can tell you the H&Rs seem to get mixed reviews on here. I had a set on my B8 2011 A5 and the ride was a bit harsh with the stock dampers. I am looking at the Emmanuel Designs springs and rear sway bar next month for my wife's 2016 A3 Quattro as many on here seem to compliment them and from what i've read you can run your stock shocks ok with them.

I highly recommend the sway bar. I installed a Neuspeed rear sway bar on my 2015 S3 and run it on the stiffest setting. Also bought their billet endlinks. It transformed the car in a way I could feel on turn-in. The 034Motorsports swaybar has a premium feature of having greasing nipples installed for the occasion need to grease. I havent needed to grease my mounts since installing the Neuspeed but im sure the day will come.

Im pretty much going to have the exact set up luv4dubs has above, with the EMD springs and rear sway bar, but with a cheap set of VMR 710 knock offs in the same size and offset (Alzor 040's). They are going on my wife's car and she tends to curb wheels sooooo didnt want to spend anymore than I had to on wheels lol

Alright I'm gonna look into the emmanueles then because I daily drive the A3 and I don't want it to be to harsh a ride. I cant wait to do springs and a roll bar I think it will really stiffen up the handling.

I have them for sale and I've only put 1,000 miles on them. Honestly. We could even meet in Pa somewhere to cut down on shipping.
